After Mark's demise in the initial Bad Ending of Burned, the Shadows argue amongst themselves on what course of action to take. Shadow Bonnie suggests turning back time and altering the events in Mark's favor, while Shadow Freddy argues that it's not a good idea to mess with Fate and especially not Death. Lest we forget Death.

In the description, this would explain why nightmare/DEATH came after markipiler, he wasn’t meant to be alive…the shadows had twisted fate itself.

So what im getting at is that markiplier originally died in burned as a sort of sacrifice im not sure how he ends up in the realm of the shadows but i assume its due to some arcade machine stuff im not getting at The shadows argue over markiplier staying alive or dead Shadow bonnie ends up reviving and nightmare hears about this Then the events of birthday settle in and you know the rest

Personally I think the 3 came to a compromise, in which Nightmare plays a game with him that no one's won before, being FNaF 4. But Markiplier ends up winning, so Nightmare ends up respecting that.

@@trist3639 not really its just the events of boned which im not sure about the end of it really. but at burned he simply fights springtrap gets the bad ending assuming both him and springtrap died. then after that shadow bonnie and freddy are arguing but death is trying to take markplier so shadow bonnie altered time to save him from death. then the events of birthday happened with assuming death let him live for some a reason.

i assume that the bad end is when he punches springtrap either he misses and springtrap kills him and he burns after failing to get out. or markplier deals the finishing blow but he dies in the fire with springtrap failing to escape.

i see some interesting undertale parallels (it makes sense the final Burned section being with Finale reference) protagonists of both projects eventually died but later revived to beat the hell out of the villian in Undertale, these saviours are the souls filled with nothing but determination here, two shadows, commanded by Death Itself are arguing to revert time and take Mark back from the hands of their leader the rest is history (and pacifist ending) very cool

Okay, but what if you make a song where Markiplier is playing Faith the Unholy Trinity? I reckon it’d be good. Here’s some idea of characters (not all of them): Amy and Michael’s voices can be the voices from the Step Right Up: Adventure Isle mod. Lisa Pearson’s voice can be Princess Bubblegum (reference to when PB got possessed by the Lich). Gary’s voice can be Trigon from DC Comics.

In the Markiplier Montage lore, NIGHTMARE and his "box form" are Death, just like from puss in boot 2. The reason why he's talking to the shadows can be presumed that because they're talking about "reviving" Markiplier to stop Springtrap, Death would take issue with it cuz it disturbs that natural balance of thing. It's worth noting that if this is canon and Mark really did die after Burned but got a second chance curtesy of the Shadows turning back time(as said in the description), then that would explain the reason why Nightmare/Death is after mark in Birthday. Edit: After looking at the video art and remembering a lore post from one of the devs, I'm now lead to believe that The "Box form" isn't a form that death can take but rather is his true appearance with NIGHTMARE instead filling that role instead.
