Activation points (for the panorama view camera) are set GPS locations at which the panorama camera will automatically activate and display itself on the screen. For example, if your driveway leads onto a busy road and you frequently back out of it, you can set the end of your driveway as an activation point. This way, every time you go to back out of your driveway, the panorama camera will active to make backing out a bit easier and less dangerous. Hope that helps, let us know if you have more questions.

@BMW of Morristown Works great with mirrors folded in. On a side note I am pissed there is no button in the tailgate to fold the 2nd row seats.

Yes, you need the full parking assistance package.

Even if the feature has been around for almost 15 years, from experience, most new owners are totally unfamiliar with it. That's why we wanted to highlight it :)

The automatic braking is only intended to work when going in reverse. As long as it is working in that instance, it sounds like everything is working as it should.

I assume you want to know the difference between park distance control and parking assistance package? PDC is just the parking sensors and a backup camera; the parking assistance package includes front and side cameras, the self-parking system, and the 3d view.

It's always recording, its just up to you to tell the system to save what its recording.

Drive recorder only works when the car is in drive-ready state i.e. when the ignition is on.

It does indeed, pedal work is up to you but the car will steer.

It goes by the lines painted on the ground, so it can park in an empty lot as long as there are clearly painted lines.

From BMW, no it is not available or possible. There's an aftermarket solution for everything though if you have the time and budget for it.

You don’t need to delete it, as it is overwritten every time you move forwards again. That meaning the back-up route is always the route you drove prior to stopping. Note: only last forwards movements will be recorded and be available as back-up route. If you shunt back and forth, only the last forward movement will be recorded and saved.

At certain points when the system wants your attention, it will flash either yellow or red.

Not true! It is recording all the time, just like a dash cam. You can either manually save recordings by holding the camera button, or it will save automatically in the event of an accident.

Ronny, are you saying if I have some event happen (not an accident) and I want to save a recording of it, I just hit and hold the camera button and the previous 20 seconds will be saved in my recordings file?

@@bmwofmorristown9038 you obviously never own an x5 bmw 🙄. I hope to God that when someone hit you it will start recording before and after. It failed to do it for me. Why not record all the time, dash cam on ebay I got for $20 record when I start the car. Ridiculous!! The self parking barely works. Only works when there's car on the left or right.

If you're good at parking, agreed, it is useless and not as good as a driver who is quick and accurate when parking. However, as we know from a quick trip to any large parking lot, many people are not so gifted. For those folks, this can be a nice feature to have.
