As someone who has worked as a gunsmith the first question that comes to my mind is What chamber specs are you sizing them for? You can have the most perfectly made, perfectly consistent dies, but if they are sizing the brass to something different from what my chamber was cut for, then the quality of your product is irrelevant regardless of price. I would suggest a couple of things. 1. Please release the specs of the 'sizing reamer' that you cut the dies with. So I don't have to reverse engineer the specs of your sizing reamer by cerrosafe casting your sizing die, and then have a custom chambering reamer cut. 2. In addition to the specs of your sizing reamer, make avaialble a chambering reamer that matches your sizing dies. A no turn neck chambering reamer with removeable pilot & has oil grooves cut in it pilot as well. That would cover about 80% of what customers actually need. Or just have your recommened chamber reamer print on file with JGS & Manson, so we can order them ourselves. I know there is a huge variaton in how people want their chambers cut, but at least having the sizing reamer spec used to cut the sizing die, we can then order the chamber reamer how we want. 3. or like you suggested in the video, have blanks available so we can cut our own sizing die easily. While this is not my preffered approach, since it involves more machine time and ordering both a sizing reamer & a chambering reamer.
@area419
@area419 Год назад
These are being cut to work with Alpha Munitions Brass, which is obviously SAAMI when applicable, and is a perfect match to their Legacy reamers (which are built against SAAMI, again, when applicable) If this isn't exciting to you, we will eventually have available Gunsmith-Ready kits, which include everything you need, except a die reamer. You'll be able to use our expanders too, just need to chuck the insert, sink your die reamer to a spec (will come with a print resembling a chamber print) and there ya go. We knew people would have these super-specific needs, and to be able to accommodate without gumming up production, we are choosing Option 3.

If I don’t use Alpha brass, how does this non-bushing sizer “adjust” to the variability of slightly different neck wall thickness in the brass necks (Lapua, Hornady, Peterson, Norma), without unnecessarily over working the neck when you pull the mandrel back through the neck to set the .002” of neck tension? Or am I simply overthinking this and it’s not an issue?
@area419
@area419 Год назад
At this point in brass, the variances are relatively small. To the point we do not believe this issue is worth adding another part, and opportunity for something to go wrong, with a bushing.

Few more questions. 1. How to control neck tension through this sizing die? Is there any bushing? 2. Since the sleeve can be replaced, it that means we can use one die with different sleeves for multiple calibers with same body diameter such like 308win and 6.5 Creedmoor? 3. Any plan for long action calibers?
@area419
@area419 Год назад
1) Neck tension is controlled by the size of the ground mandrel you pull back through the sized neck. All dies ship with a .002" neck tension mandrel, with mandrels to produce more/less tension to be available for order about the time the dies ship. 2) Sure, you could do that. We will make the sleeves available on their own at some point, just don't expect it to be immediate. 3) This design can accommodate from 223 to 338 LAP and we will be making all sorts of things in between.
