1. Understand Vanessa's Law and how it can improve drug safety for our patients
2. Review case examples of severe adverse drug reactions and identify opportunities to improve reporting at the MUHC
3. Raise awareness about a new MUHC O-word reporting tool for serious adverse drug reactions
Biosketch of Dr. Saman Ahmad, MD'CM, FRCPC, Assistant Professor (Clinical), Department of Medicine, McGill University General Internal Medicine Physician, MUHC Associate Investigator, Research Institute of the MUHC:
Dr. Saman Ahmad is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, McGill University. Dr. Ahmad completed medical and post-graduate training at McGill University. She is currently completing a Master of Science in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety at the Harvard Medical School. As a Clinician Teacher, Dr. Ahmad has a keen interest in integrating quality improvement and patient safety across the academic clinical care continuum at the McGill University Health Centre.
Biosketch of Dr. Luca Melnychuk, PGY-5 General Internal Medicine Fellow:
Dr. Luca Melnychuk is a PGY-5 in General Internal Medicine at McGill University. He completed his Medical School and Core Internal Medicine training at McGill University. Dr. Melnychuk has been working with Dr. Ahmad on identifying risk factors for medication related adverse events at the McGill University Health Centre.
