On Sunday; I posted the first of two promos for extremely short-lived CBS series that were part of this recent batch of commercial with one for "Fish Police". This is the other one, which I had never heard of until I bought this tape. The promo is for a show called "Scorch".
Basically, the premise is that Scorch is a 1300-year-old dragon who - after awakening from a century-long sleep in 1992 - somehow crash lands near the apartment of New Haven residents Brian Stevens and his daughter Jessica (this part of the premise at least sounds suspiciously similar to that of the 1986-90 NBC sitcom "ALF"); with Brian getting hired to do the weather at a local TV station while passing Scorch off as a puppet. Cast members included Jonathan Walker and Rhea Silver-Smith (as the Stevens family) alongside John O'Hurley (fresh off a run on NBC's "Santa Barbara", though his big break was still a few years away with the role of J. Peterman on "Seinfeld" during its final 3 seasons along with hosting a revival of "To Tell the Truth" and was the host of the current version of "Family Feud" before giving way to current host Steve Harvey) and Brenda Strong (a former Miss Arizona in 1980; Strong would become best-known for roles in "Seinfeld" {as recurring character Sue Ellen Mischke}, "Desperate Housewives" {as Mary Alice Young, narrating events from the grave} and the 2011-14 TNT revival of "Dallas" {as Ann Ewing, the latest wife of Patrick Duffy's Bobby Ewing})
Also like "Fish Police"; this series went "three-and-out" before CBS pulled the plug (with the show's other 3 episodes not airing stateside).
