Very excited to read Prima Facie - I’ve found some of my favorite books from your recommendations (obviously Big Swiss). I also very much relate to your feelings about the quantity of books I read. I feel like I put so much pressure in myself to get through so many books that I was taking the joy out of my hobby to the point that it felt like work. While I understand that so many people read that way purposefully it didn’t align with how I wanted to interact with literature, and taking a step back over the past few months has definitely brought the joy back.
@@SlaggyBookClubaside from normal people, conversations with friends… Exciting Times had a similar narrative? I’m keen to see what Swedish literature is like though because there was definitely something interesting about the writing style and I’m wondering if it’s linked to the fact it’s translated…
my favourite (bigger) book stores in Sydney city are dymocks and kinokuniya :)))) both on the same street as well, how convenient. the gallery shop in the north building of the art gallery of nsw is also a super cool store - small selection of books but the architecture makes it worth a visit!
I need to get my hands on a copy of Bite Back - I just finished Girls Don't Play Sport and need another good Aussie feminist non-fic in my life! For Sydney bookstores, love love love Gertrude & Alice in Bondi, Sappho Books in Glebe, and Berkelouw in Paddington
