Yeah, it’s a 2001. But I pass this one all the time so it definitely deserves a recording. You can find it off US 231 behind Loogootee’s municipal building. Their other siren is a T-121 on the other side of town and runs ‘attack’. You can actually hear it pretty well even in this recording. From my understanding, these are normally sounded by Loogootee’s dispatch center but it’s not staffed 24/7. During their offline hours, Martin County Sheriff’s Dispatch takes over.
Martin County’s sirens are controlled independently. Loogootee tests every first day of the month usually at 12 Noon, Shoals tests first Mondays, and NAVSEA tests its system as needed.

I love that you included the dispatcher/officer convo, LOL. Your videos always look so well edited and put together. I always hope for an attack video, but I'm okay with one in the background, too. One thing I always wondered - do the sirens ever create enough air turbulence to cause issues with the drone if it gets too close? I can't imagine the actual volume of air forced through them (the mechanical ones, at least) but it has to be pretty big.

Thanks!! Yeah that convo was just too funny to not include lol. I got lucky. Most places just tone them out and that's it. I've definitely had issues flying near some sirens...Thunderbolts especially. Usually the drone flies fine, but the camera gimbal will vibrate. It could just be the sound pressure. But there's quite a lot of air being thrown out the horn. You can actually hear tons of air get sucked into the intake if you stand beneath it. You can only hear this in person, none of my mics have properly picked this sound up.

@@DSRX100 That's amazing. I'd love to be able to experience it in the flesh, but until then, I'll just keep on watching your videos and experience them vicariously. We don't have much in the way of sirens here in the UK, and I'm stuck at home anyway. Also, thank you for the siren maps. It's amazing to be able to see everything like that and must have taken weeks of work.
