@@mikemoggerson6651Nadal is a slow surface merchant and the most overrated tennis player to ever exist. Sure his numbers suggest he’s one of the greatest ever, but if you look at his play style and tennis skill it’s the antithesis to Federer. Both Roger and Novak are way, way more skilled tennis players than Nadal which is why Nadal has almost zero success on medium or fast courts, and can mainly only dominate on clay and very slow hard court. The other 2 could win on anything but were better on medium fast and fast surfaces. A lot of people hate Novak because he holds all the records, but if you look at the results and how they play, it’s actually NADAL who is the one-dimensional grinder with zero ability to play true attacking tennis. His entire game revolved around being left handed and hitting high topspin, high net clearance forehands to his opponent’s BH side OVER AND OVER. Uncle Toni is brilliant for making Nadal play left handed even though he’s naturally a righty. If you watch a Nadal vs Federer match, the entire match is pretty much him moonballing to Fed’s backhand over and over until he finally makes an error. Skill wise, he is the least impressive great player I have ever seen. His forehand technique is the opposite of textbook and his serve is an absolute joke compared to Roger’s or even Novak’s. If he was right handed he would win like 3 grand slams

@@Mark-ut5oq I agree with a lot of this its true Nadal is more one dimensional with the heavy reliance on clay. However lets not pretend Novak would win a lot on true "fast" courts. The surfaces have been continuously slowed down over the years to the point where what people think is "fast" now is actually incredibly slow compared to what was fast before. The only one of the 3 old enough to experience those truly "fast" courts and the one with the aggressive game style to be successful on them was Fed.

It's fair in a way. Federer is the exact same kind of being for Andy Roddick, who also won a GS before Roger kicked in, and never got a chance after that

And the thing is, Roger was actually pretty good on clay. He just happened to play in the same era as the greatest clay court player ever by a mile.

Whereas poor Roddick got trashed pretty much everywhere, and even the close ones (Wimbledon final...) went Federer's way, it's tough in the end for Roddick to end his career with just one slam as eternal no2/3

The most important match in Fed’s career didn’t even involve him, it was the match between Soderling and Nadal. Also I would say the next most important match in his career was Wimbledon 2019, if he won that he would still be in the goat debate and would have a decent enough case for it, especially in comparison to Nadal

​@@mikemoggerson6651Arguable, could be, but honestly Djokovic is 5-6 years younger than Federer, and Federer was almost 37 on that final. The difference in age between these guys can make a huge impact imo. If you look at it Federer has reached 5 RG finals and only won 1, all due to Nadal.

Really unforgettable moments.. like serving for the match up 40-15 at USOpen 2011 Semifinal, epic. Then serving for the match in 2019 Wimbledon Final with double Championship point! Even more Epic! :)

Didn't Djokovic also beat him on clay in 2021? Novak was the only one who stopped him from a 15thRG, Novak is still very hard to beat on clay, we shall see what happens this year.

B/c of Nadal, Roger is vastly underrated for his excellence on clay - and he was just as graceful on the red dirt as any other surface.

I've seen other edits where a player wins and there's no highlights of the other player. There wasn't much for Soderling in the first set, but you could see how well he was playing in the 2nd and 3rd, set. He had a game plan and it worked reasonably well, but Roger was being Roger, and the rain/humidity and the adaptation to it must have also impacted them.

if rafael nadal didnt miss so many grand slams due to injuries, he would ve probably gotten over 30 grand slams with djokovic and federer around.

The story of all those playing in the big 3 era: Berdych, Tsonga, Soderling etc. You take one out with the match of your life, but you still have one or two to go. Del Potro will be glad to have got one in 2009

Best ever ? Have you forgot the current number 1 ? Look we all have favourite players I also prefer to watch Roger over many other players however you can't deny that the stats speak for themselves for Novak doesn't however at any point take away the greatness of Roger Federer but however he was never able to beat Rafa in Paris which probably the big dissapointment in his career.

He beat the top 2 at the French. The only other player to do so is no other than Novak. Unfortunately for Soderling, he couldn’t beat both in the same year and walk away with the title.

definitely, on the court he was very calm but when the match end, i think he express his emotions the most out of big3, nadal and djokovic was equally emotional i believe 😆

Lol .... Federer needed Soderling to make dirty job to win French Open. Not really a GOAT thing. Djokovic won FO after beating Nadal.... Nadal never beated Djokovic on Australian Open.
