Feed the cats dropped my 40 from 5.06 to 4.66 (electronically timed) in 8 weeks! Shoutout Tony HOLLER!

Your fave fan 62 y o me here again to say thanks coach Tony for these great tips. Noticing some improvements due to more rest and better strength sessions. Someone saw my Strava session last week and asked if I had an injury for only posting 2 x 400 max efforts instead of 6. I said no I was busy feeding the cats 😁

First, I'm the strength coach for the track team . Don't hold that against me. I’ve been following and advocating the feed the cats' training style. I have a senior who has a very lofty goal for his 100m his PR is 12.2 his goal is 11. What advice would you give me to help him. We are working on consistency and timing, of course. Developing strength. Thank you for your support

@@SuzieGullett Speed grows like a tree. 11.0 for a 12.2 kid is like wanting to be a millionaire in 6 months. Consistent speed and x-factor training, lift after sprinting. 4 day work week. Sleep. Go on a mission and surrender to the results.

@coachtonyholler I understand I've told him. My plan is to focus on strength and technique and consistency of effort for pre season, then technique speed and atomic warm-up with consistency. Then, drilling down on speed and consistency. Want to support his dreams while keeping the work smart

4:50 I've just begun watching this and I'm loving it, I love the idea of prioritising speed training and being a little bit more analytical than the average sports coach. However, I think the coach made a logical mistake there when he said "there are no barbells on the field" . There isn'ta track, spikes, a straight line and electronic timing on the field either. It's not a valid reasoning.
@coachtonyholler
@coachtonyholler Месяц назад
@@haczabim He was making the opposite point. We lift weights and sprint in a straight line to create better ATHLETES. It doesn’t matter if there is no lifting or sprinting in the sport.

I'm a sucker for equipment. Sled? Yay or nay? Should I use it just for acceleration? Can i use it for max speed? What about parachutes?

Coach Tony Holler, have you read Sydney McLaughlin’s book, “Running from fear to faith?” In chapter 11 halfway through the book she suffers an injury that forced her to rest for a month. Came back running a second faster time than what she and her trainer chose for her. I don’t think she put it together that the steak 🥩 was being overcooked!! By her second race she broke the record. Missing out on your work I believe!!

hey coach , i’ve just started training for the 100m for the first time. my time is 16.5 seconds and everyone’s telling me to stop competing as there’s no way i can catch up to those around me. should i keep practicing or realise that it’s possibly too late for me

Hi coach. I'm a football goalkeeper who has 4 team trainings and 1 game a week. I've been doing the atomic workout 2 times per week, 1 before one training and one before the game, with great results. I just have one question. How should i warmup in the other 3 trainings? Would doing the atomic workout without the sprints a good option, since we should only sprint 3 times per week max? Or is it to much? Thank you

Coach why no parachute training?
@coachtonyholler
@coachtonyholler 28 дней назад
@@johnwright9979 At max velocity the two biggest issues are gravity and a slow firing CNS. We need to train VERTICAL FORCE at top speed , not horizontal force. Parachutes improve horizontal force. Parachutes also SLOW US DOWN, preventing us from challenging our CNS.

Hey I’m wondering how I should train for the fall season. My 400 is a 51.5, my 200 is a 23.5, and my 800 is a 2:03. I signed up for xc but do you think I should train top speed during xc or should I just do the long distance running? (I’m trying to focus on the 400 this year)
