My passion for bikes started when my parents opened a shop in the 1980s called Parker Bikes (we were located in Parker, Colorado). My love for cycling has continued since then, in my work and with my hobbies of road cycling and mountain biking. After my parents’ shop closed, I worked for other bike shops (including Lee’s Cyclery in Fort Collins), where I built and sold bikes, fixed and tuned up bikes, and managed inventory.
I love working on bikes and want to share my passion for cycling with others. So, next time you’re talking cycling with someone and wondering how to get started or where to go from here, you can think, “I know a guy!”

Enlightning! I'm going to go get me a Feedback kit as soon as I can! Thank you for sharing!

I started with just a few single tools, and when the kit came out, it seemed a no-brainer. Some are more useful than others, but they are good to have anyway. The right tool for the right job, right?

@@IKnowAGuyBicycles That is true! I'm just starting back with bikes, again, since a few years ago I had to stop it, due to business agenda (I work with Computers and owned two stores... made me grow a rounded belly and lost my fit for a few years... Now I'm Me myself again :) My wife and I just recently acquired two MTB bikes to start in it and now we both are building our own small bike repair and training-gear! We've got some tools so far, just not as complete as the kit you recommend in this vid. By the way, I like your channel and the info you deliver. Good work! You got a regular now and I'll be droppin by to keep up and learn more of "I know a guy Bicycles!" Two thumbs up! and again, Ty for sharing!

I've got the same Feedback Sports Team Edition Toolkit for home, as well as their smaller Ride Prep Toolkit (now discontinued) for when I'm traveling (and a couple of their bike stands, their wheel truing stand, torque wrenches, T-handle wrenches, and a few other odds and ends); do you have suggestions of other bike-specific tools that would round out a home user's setup? Or better yet, a wish list of products that would be nice if Feedback Sports would add to their offering? The master link/missing link chain tool was a fairly recent addition to their Team Edition Toolkit, but they still lack a chain wear indicator tool ever since they discontinued their version of the KMC Digital Chain Checker Tool, and I feel a simple chain gauge would suffice in a kit like this. Is it worthwhile getting a rear derailleur hanger alignment tool? Brake bleed kit? Bearing press and removal tools? Anything else?

Oh, boy! Let's talk tools! The Chain Checker, I have the Parks Tools and a nock off, and both seem to work just fine. For Feedback, current tool selection is good, but Park Tools have been around a lot longer and have a wider selection of tools that are needed and some not so much. For feedback on Feedback tools, provide good, better, and best options. Some of what they have is good but could even be taken to a higher level. The good is for once in a while use. Better is nicer and has 1-3 times use a week. And the best is daily use (PRO). In that kit you have, the cable cutters are just okay, as well as the chain tool. But they just released a better chain tool, so that is the right direction. Since you have a kit and the basics, I would only add to the list when needed. Plus, I have found that nicer tools are great, but if you only use them once or twice, get something less expensive. Or if you can write it off as a business expense, then buy the nicer stuff. Out of the last tools you asked for, the derailleur hanger tools are something I use daily, the rest I would suggest get as needed. Maybe I need to do a heat map of my tool wall. lol

@@IKnowAGuyBicycles A heat map showing frequency of use of your tools would definitely help in trying to figure out which tools would be worthwhile making an investment on. It's only been the last year or so that I've been working on collecting these bike-specific tools; my original intention was to "future proof" my ability to ride; I didn't want to be in a situation where a quick fix that I could easily do on my own, can't be done simply because I don't have the tools, and I end up not being able to ride because, for whatever reason, the local shops aren't available (thinking back to pandemic shut-downs when the bike shops were either completely closed, or so busy, you couldn't get an appointment for weeks). I've actually got all 3 of Feedback Sports chain tools, as I upgraded one kit from the original 1.0 to the 3.0 unit, and the Team Edition came with their 2.0 version. Feedback Sports also just recently came out with their new Range Click Torque Wrench, which I think I'll be getting soon for my home kit, and transfer the regular Range Torque Wrench to my traveling Ride Prep Toolkit. For the amount of use it'll get, you're probably right that I can get away with more moderately priced options for the derailleur hanger alignment tool, and generally only getting tools as I feel they are needed. I think my biggest concern, as I'm starting to get into winter/fat bike cycling, which steps away slightly from the more fair-weather road cycling, is the amount of wear and tear I might start seeing on these other bikes, and perhaps not being able to keep my fat bike in quite as pristine condition as my road and hybrid bikes. An indoor bike wash station is definitely on my wish list for the fall.
