Matrix feeder arm or Preston, which is best? When it boils down to it we all need a feeder arm and there are so many to suit all budgets but which style should you choose? Here are my 2 feeder arms and there is a clear winner in my opinion...

Just to clear things up, I said at the start of the video "these are the 2 I use" I also go on to explain why I changed feeder arms, nothing against PI but I use Matrix hence why I bought the Matrix version, I've seen the new version Preston one but A I couldn't get hold of one to actually look at, and B I'm not much of a fan of Preston gear anyway, some of the rods are ok but that's my opinion. I'm really happy you've commented and have had some input on the video, it's what we need as anglers as we all buy and use our own preferred brand and I love that we can do that in fishing and still compete at the same level against each other. I'll probably upset the Sensas crowd with Friday's video lol. Tight lines folks and stay safe, Scott

When I go feeder fishing or float fishing I don't take my pole so I use my Preston standard kit safe bar it does the same job as the matrix feeder arm

You showed it being raised -- how about lowering it- i was out the other day and my rest was not low enough to get the tip close to the water -- can the Matrix 3D do this??

Do the matrix fit a Preston intersection station box

Preston do one the same as the matrix in a small medium and large, you've obviously been using the older version.

Bit unfair this one. I have a newer Preston arm and it does everything the Matrix can. In fact the quick release is at the leg end so that you can leave it attached to your box leg and set up in seconds.

This was comparing the 2 I own and showing the difference between the 2 main options in feeder arms, the new preston one looks good but so does the feederland one.....unfortunately I don't have these sent to me for reviews and it's impossible to buy every option on the market

I have the previous PI rod rest to the current and it’s years ahead of the old PI model you used as example, it’s shorter than the one demonstrated , has q/r length adjustment, also q/r on height adjustment pivot more like the Matrix you have there. And I think even current model is around £22-24 👍

Totally agree with Jaime.... the matrix one is good .... but the preston one is much better and has been out for a while now so if anything matrix is playing catch up .... But both are good and if your a matrix person or preston person your not going to be disappointed

how stable is the arm on these when a rod is on/biting does it shake when rested on a rod rest? thanks.

Hi Simon, the Matrix one has been rock solid for me so far and I've used it on commercials and rivers, hope that helps

I love the matrix 3dr stuff and have the feeder arms but the brass nut that the clamp for the seatbox leg screws into is rubbish , my kids have threaded 2 of theirs they are that easy to overtighten . I have now replaced them all with stainless steel square m8 nuts

Touch wood mine has been ok so far, but I know a few have had the same issue, it's a shame really as it is a good bit of kit.
