A Tractor is faster with the grab, those Jcbs and diggers are dead ducks around the yard, more suited to council road work

I find tractor hydraulics very slow. Plus you can't use big grabs as they aren't built for the weight

You could cut the 30 mins in half again by making some kind of a scraper with rubber on the bottom of it. Put it on the back actor , drop your block of silage per span then drive back and lower the ' scraper ' and drive handy and it'll push up the silage for you, Think like Henry Ford,,, look for the laziest man in the workplace and ask him how would he do it😂 Id say an old cutting edge with a quick attach bracket would do it,

Nice machine. I used to feed with a much smaller sheer grab I found if I dropped the first block then went got the second block and used the grab full to push the first grab into place then dropped the second block. I found it quicker than opening the grab to drop the block and then closing it to push in the grab. Only what I found. Never meant as a criticism. I enjoy your videos and I admire your system.

If you leave the pushing in the grabs until the end you will speed it up also as you are not tipping as much

Well ware Mark, some beast of a grab. 💪🏼 A new set of shoes are required on the 3cx 😉, if she's still in the yard 🤔

Not here in the cubicles, but yes if I include feed space near the milking parlour

Did you ever think of hiring in the contractor to do the feeding? I think they used to do it on the Kilkenny research farm.

I think the loader is a handy machinery needed on the farm so makes sense to do it ourselves but yes they did it in greenfield at the start

Going very well. Over 50% submitted in the first 11 days. All natural heats with the cows and some synchronisation with the heifers

Would yee not just invest in a diet feeder?
@MCMilkingIt

It averages less than 1 hour per day to feed 480/500 cows. I don't think I could do it that fast with a diet feeder. Would certainly be alot more expensive anyway
