Did you know that about a quarter of our climate change problem stems from agriculture? Yet a growing global population means we need to produce more food. Research shows we can’t do it just by agriculture-we also need to shift our diets and reduce food waste.
Dr. Navin Ramankutty, Director of the UBC Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability, looks at sustainable agriculture solutions. He explains the benefits and drawbacks of smaller farms and organic agriculture, and the effects on biodiversity. He looks at meat consumption and the environment, and how following a plant-based diet and eating vegetarian or vegan can help feed the world.
