Gene Clark was a brilliant songwriter and entertainer. "Feel A Whole Lot Better" was one of the best songs ever written. This version was excellent.

This is a masterpiece,like everything else Gene wrote,though being the guy he was,he would probably shrug that compliment off

Yes, that song is amazing. Crazily underrated. Polly is my favorite by Dillard & Clark. I love all of Genes' albums they come straight from the heart, and too me, that is music! Long live Gene Clark's music! May you sing your masterpieces with Jesus 🕊🙌

Just three years before his death and a few months after invasive stomach surgery, it's amazing how well Gene sounds here. This is a great find because of the great video quality and rare televised interview of Mr. Clark. Gene was a hero through and through. He was a great songwriter, singer, and musician who never pandered to anybody, and just let his music do all the talking. He suffered much in this world, but so too have many other authentically creative individuals

Easy to see and hear why Gene was one of the most soulful musicians in the history of American popular music. To think what The Byrds could have accomplished if their various personalities had not been in such severe conflict with one another.
@northernlight4614
@northernlight4614 6 лет назад
SouthVA 757 Gene was a better singer and songwriter than the fat guy. But the little fat guy could sure harmonize.
@rogermurray8553
@rogermurray8553 5 лет назад
South va and northern light. I'm sure you loved The Byrds every bit as much as I did. Right through to Notorious Byrd Bros they made some of the greatest, most innovative music ever, either before or since. There would've been no Byrds without David, Gene or Roger so to speak negatively about any of them is too easy to do and unnecessarily chips away at the group's enormous legacy. Rather than criticize, please go to "Turn, Turn, Turn Chris Hillman/David Crosby" on yt, witness the great power of music to heal old wounds and probably find yourselves being reduced to tears as I was by the end of the video.
@christineparker8020

"Little fat guy" exactly what Crosby is snd was. He could never hold a candle to the sublime snd beautiful Gene Clark.
@rogermurray8553
@rogermurray8553 3 года назад
Two things, Christine. Crosby was once a skinny guy and projected a very cool rock star image for awhile, as did his nemesis, Jim Morrison for a longer period of time. And two, he was the best high harmony singer, (rock) I've ever heard in my lengthening life. Also, he was irrascible and skilled at cultivating enemies, as were John Lennon and Neil Young, the difference being the vast disparity in songwriting ability between the latter two and Crosby. But what could've been in terms of collaborative output between Clark , really deserving of genius status, and Crosby if they had formed a Lennon/McCartney type of relationship that let McGuinn concentrate on shaping and developing the tunes is sadly, something that 'll never be known, only guessed at.
@rogermurray8553
@rogermurray8553 3 года назад
PS. And I don't mean to presume that David was in any way in the same songwriting league as Sir Paul, by he has been a "songwriter" all these decades and maybe with inspuration from Gene he could've been worthy of serious recognition in that department rather than the wildly hit and too many misses guy he's been since the days of Godawful Mind Gardens and the near equally abysmal Triad.
