Happy Friday from Copenhagen! Cooking anything nice this weekend? Our daughter is coming round tomorrow to watch Swedish "Melodifestivalen". Very hygge! 😍Don’t forget our pact… I am here for you three times each week and you comment on every video. Which self-care missions will you choose for this week - 1, 2, 3 or 4?
I choose to accept Mission #2 if the occasion arises, #3, and #4! Such good ideas! About Control Journal: Years ago when I first found you, I vividly remember you holding up a sort of creased piece of paper and encouraging us to just start already. We don't need to go buy anything to make a "perfect" control journal. Just start with a simple routine. Your words were so freeing. Thank you for everything ❤
1. I’ll wear a new teal shirt. 2. I will say no to being involved in online drama. 3. I will go to bed early. 4. I am taking nature photos. I’m still “under the weather” so maintenance of daily morning, afternoon, evening, and before bed routines. Thank you for the encouraging videos. Have a restful weekend. Lisa Anne Dupree 🙂🌻🦋
Even before I watched today's video, I had already blocked off all of Saturday as "busy." Scheduled for me to do whatever I like. So if someone asks a favor or suggests an activity I can say, "I'm not available; I have plans." I have also learned I do not need to explain myself to the whole world. ❤
I am definitely doing #3! I have to say, my son told me today that my cleaning efforts are really starting to show. He said that he really notices the peace of a clean house when he comes home from work. He actually said that the house is “practically immaculate “! I have always hated cleaning so much that I never in my life expected my house to be immaculate!! I used to hate cleaning, but now that the backlog has been cleared, I am running through my cleaning routines in no time & I actually really enjoy doing the cleaning. Whoo hoo! Thank you Diane for the encouragement and practical advice! Rah, rah, rah!!
I really liked your self-care suggestion of “saying no to something”. It reminded me of that saying “Let go of that which does not serve you”. I decided to use that to inspire me to “say no” to time on social media. This week I will say no more often when I reach for my phone. That is the self-care that I need. ❤ Thank you, Diane!
Thank you for being on RU-vid 3 times a week. I really look forward to your videos and feel so energized after hearing you cheering us on. I will be wearing something special this weekend.
So grateful for your simple yet genius selfcare ideas! For years I was so much into caring for others that when the time is there to do something for myself I am clueless about what I could do to feel some joy and relaxation. With your suggestions I am slowly finding my way back to myself 😊
Just turned down an invite to join a group project that would have been a huge time suck - with very little satisfaction. This is difficult for me because I was raised to be a "people pleaser" but, as you said, Diane, someone else now has the chance to step up. My 2024 resolution was to carve out more time for me to write this year. So, I LOVE that "say no" was one of your self-care choices this week! Perfect timing!
Thanks Diane for another helpful and cheerful interlude. Since I lost my husband 4 years ago, I find I need more cheering up. Watching and listening to you is self care for me ❤ I got myself a little 4 foot Christmas tree that I can handle by myself. After Christmas I turn it into a New Year’s tree with green lights and gold tinsel garlands just whimsical. Today you helped me take it down with a rah rah rah! Thanks again ❤
Let me resound that comment - I found flylady in about 2010 and fell on my face so many times, I felt like a failure. Your approach is so simple and inclusive that, even though I'm not getting it right every day, getting off my bahookie and doing something is what's important. You are the best cheerleader. X
I’m choosing mission 2, 3 and 4. I did mission two today as my DH wanted to go to a caravan and camping show which we attended last year, but I wasn’t really into it. He wanted to go again today, but I said I had other things to do and we could spend the day together tomorrow so I said no. I go to bed far too late, then wake up late and this then feels like I start the day off in a panic because I’m behind so I definitely will be choosing mission three. I’ll also choose mission four and go for a walk hopefully with hubby. I thought it was very interesting when you said the self-care missions are not be done at the weekends - better to do them daily to give yourself a little hug every day. I have never looked at it this way.💡
Dear Diane, we are invited for coffee this sunday and I'm going to shop my wardrobe to wear something that I have forgotten about. I'm always looking forward to your videos! Thank you so much for your constant motivation!
Remember those forgotten accessories too: The hat, the sunglasses, the earrings at the back of your jewelry box, the boots that need a little polish. And the trend that everyone is using for a polished look, the belt. Try everything on the night before to check for fit and any repairs that might be needed. ❤
This weekend I'm going to wear something I've been keeping for best!! How silly as that dress has probably been hanging on my wardrobe unworn gor 2 years now!! Excellent advice. Loving the 3 times weekly videos. The house is looking cleaner and less cluttered week by week and I am feeling more focused and joyful. I especially love the self care missions. You're helping us to change Diane!!! And to truly enjoy our homes and our lives. Thank you so much. ❤
Thank you, Diane, for helping me keep on track with your RU-vid site. My dear mother-in-law passed on Feb 10th and the funeral for her was Feb 22. Hosting family in our home for the past 12 days was a comfort. Having a home that follows the Flylady system and your “rah/rah” support made it possible to host family from out of state for the past 12 days. I maintained my dailies ( morning and evening), my zones have been kept up on a regular basis, and I am told I provided much needed hygge for our visiting family. Thank you for your inspiration.
Thank you sweet Diane. I'm homebound but worked on mission 4. I stood at my kitchen window and watched the most beautiful clouds moving through the deep blue sky. It was peaceful and calming. Thanks for the ideas. Rah🎉Rah🎉Rah. Take care.
I'll be doing mission #3 and going to bed early. :) Just got home from a two-week trip to my parents' house where I helped them clean out my grandmother's house. She passed in late December, and she and my grandfather didn't throw anything away!😅 I'm pretty tired now. However, it has really motivated me to come home and be ruthless with my own decluttering! My grandmother's house looks so pretty now that we cleared most of the stuff out. Thank you for your encouragement and coaching, Diane!
I have Covid so I’ll be in all weekend - watching your videos and excited to get back to chores and normalcy!! Thanking my lucky stars I have a healthy immune system otherwise. Thanks for the sunshine today, Diane 🌞😃
I cleaned out part of my medicine cabinet while watching the video! I am definitely going to say no more this week and spend extra time in bed in the mornings!
Thank you so much for ‘cheering’ those of us who are domestically challenged…..you have created a visual aid for those of us who need to watch ‘how it’s done’ and then do it!! I look forward to your videos every week. Again, thank you and enjoy your weekend.✅
I went to the park today me and my daughter, and we walked around the lake. We enjoyed ourselves so much, thank you so much, dear Diane, for your insperation ❤
Learning to say no is such an important skill to learn. This is something I realised last year. Boundaries are so important. Thank you for your encouragement!
Getting to bed early is a good thing as the pesky eastern daylight savings time change is coming up in March, and we lose an hour of sleep. Getting outside for a nature walk also will be very enjoyable. Hope you have a beautiful weekend!🌲😴
The Friday self-care choices are a reminder to me to do something for myself. I love that you give us specific choices each week. For this week, I am choosing "Connect with Nature." We had snow this morning, but it has all melted now, so I will tour my flower and vegetable gardens to see what is happening. Have a fun weekend, Diane! See you on Monday! 🦋
I took a day off of work for self care this week, wore a workout outfit that I don’t usually wear, did a workout, took a walk, spent time with my sweetie, and did my weekly cleaning. It was all wonderful. Thank you Diane.
Your take on the Flylady system was also a game changer for me Diane. You made everything make sense, and the simplicity is gold. Thank you for being there for us as our coach. We appreciate you!!
This week I cleaned off a shelf in my bedroom closet, got rid of some old bed sheets. Yay! I pruned the pomegranate tree and other plants. I will enjoy some time in my yard it’s all looking very spring like! 🌸🌷🪻I will say no to listening/ reading the negative political ads and news media. Loved the Ted Lasso show too Diane. I read “Lessons in Chemistry “ last year and watched the series when it came out- it was really good! Not watching much tv at this time. Always thankful for your motivation Diane. You are a shining ⭐️. 😊
For this mission I unearthed a pair of joggers I’d not even tried and enjoyed wearing them around the house and out to do a few errands. I also extended my Saturday morning walk into the nearby state park. After all the rain that has left central coastal California lush, signs of spring are everywhere - snowdrops out even in the shadiest areas, narcissus and daffodils abloom, and magnolias ready to bloom. Just lovely.
I wanted to tell you that I love your new 3 posts per week format. I was VERY skeptical at first - I loved seeing your posts daily. But as time has gone on, I find myself being more productive as I am more focused, and now I REALLY look forward to your posts! Have a wonderful week, Diane.
Thanks for cheering for us, for being consistent, with which I struggle most. I love your ideas for self-care, too much is too fancy and costly in my opinion, but your ideas are doable. Love you.
Thanks, Diane! A great tip to tell someone I must look at my calendar first. 1. I plan to wear joggers in public and see if I feel okay with that. At 59, joggers feel like exercise only clothes, but I hear they are fashion… who knew? 4. This one is cheating because connecting with nature is a favorite of mine. This week I want to have my eyes open to the new in the familiar!
I love The Madame Blanc Mysteries! It's actually filmed in Malta, but the story is set in France. It's quirky and lighthearted at the same time. Dom is my favorite character! ❤❤❤
Hi! It’s Renee McClean again! Yes, that’s my real name & kudos to you for actually pronouncing it correctly! 🎉. I asked about nail polish - I had 5 different colors on my nails this week, all at the same time. I think I’ve picked a winner. 😆. I shared this link today with 5 of my girlfriends who are interested in books. I’m wearing red today - one of my favorite tops that I don’t wear often enough & I am getting outside a little bit each day for a very short walk. I strained my back so am recuperating slowly. Thanks for your cheery videos!
I have joined a walking group. We walk in a lovely ravine, over 2 miles each Friday. Yesterday I went on a "Solo Adventure" to a neighbouring town to a craft store to browse amidst all the beautiful things. I also discovered a bakery that sells the best blueberry scones! I'm having two little adventures each month. Makes me sparkle and shine.
Had a fall yesterday , we are seeing downstairs as I cannot make it upstairs yet . Can’t do anything at all cleaning wise , last week I had just got to sorting out , I was doing the swish and swipe, cleaning the sink , wiping the surfaces and vacuuming the high traffic areas now back to the beginning , but I am already in the mind of when I can I will get going at her than thinking “oh well I may as well give up altogether , which is amazing for me .this is all because of you Diane xxx
Hi Diane, I meant to clean with you but just didn't feel well enough this week as I'm struggling with a cold. I'm going to say NO to cooking dinner tonight and give myself a break.
I will enjoy nature on morning walks this week, Diane. I like the idea of staying in bed a little longer of a morning, too! Thank you for another great video 🙏
I never have a lie-in - but I do have a nice sofa in my bedroom and a cosy-corner, and I'll take my breakfast there on Sunday. My self-care will be to spend longer in my pyjamas before getting dressed! I have a picture on my phone-screen which reads "Don't say "maybe' which you want to say 'no'" .
Love your videos so much! I'm a PD James fan and had the privilege of meeting her several years ago--she was very sweet. I also enjoy watching cozy murder shows like Father Brown and Sister Boniface. My new current favorite is Ms. Fisher's Modern Murder Mysteries! Love the clothes and hairstyles...reminds me of when I was growing up in the '60s (I'm 65 now!).
KaDee from Seattle, I'm doing number 4, it's time to bring back out the patio furniture an lanters.I love drinking my coffee out there in the early morning. I live on a golf course, an at this time of the year we start seeing our Bald headed Eagles flying back over us, a river is behind our house. They love thier Salmon. Have a great day. 🎉Rah, Rah, Rah. KaDee.
My self care was to say no to an invitation to go to an exhibition. I was feeling tired and not up to a big day out. I saw the friends on another occasion and conserved some energy, and had some time with a book and a nice cup of tea 😊
Thank you for being here three times a week. I appreciate your commitment to helping us. I am going to choose self-care mission #3. I am going to get to bed early tonight. Enjoy your weekend, Diane. See you Monday.
Maybe a self-care suggestion could be: choose a day of the week or a time period for each day where you put your phone away (or turn computer off) to have a little technology break.
I’m choosing mission number 1. I’m very routine and minimal with my daily dressing. As part of my major mission of becoming happier and healthier I think finding the right clothing (right in my own closet) and then actually wearing them will be a great smaller mission. Thank you, Diane!
I choose to stay in bed later this morning and went on a run/walk outdoors. The fresh air perked me up. Thanks again for your commitment to posting 3 videos a week. I find them motivational and have been noticing a lot of progress around my house!
I added a 5 self care. Had a much needed 90 minute deep massage followed by a Chiro appointment. Whew, they wore me out. Hubby was a champ and picked us up some food. So tomorrow will do double laundry to make up for my miss.
You're inching ever closer to 100K! I've been subbed for years, so just liking and commenting for the algorithm. Getting to bed early, and connecting with nature sounds good!
I am intrigued by the self-care challenge to say ‘no’ to things we don’t really want to do. I’ll try it out this week. Thanks as always for your focused videos to get us decluttering, cleaning and looking after ourselves.
I’m really enjoying this, thank . I am enjoy working along with you. My bedroom has never felt so clean and fresh after it’s few minimal each day. The bookshelves have gone and that helps it to be clean. I’m grateful for the self care ideas too. Today, Saturday I’ve identified five more pieces of clothing for decluttered. I’m going to wear a pretty bangle that I had forged about. I’ve emailed and yay said no to an arts group meeting and said I won’t be able to go. Yay happy weekend everyone. I will walk the dog and today I will pay attention to the flowers that are beginning to appear ❤
Cleaning the office while listening to your video. I discovered your channel when I moved out of my parents place and into my own home. I feel like you made my path from late teen to being an adult and a mom of 2 so much easier! I'm so grateful that I found you so early in my life. Feels like I've grown up with your pompoms rah-rah-rah! Hugs from Metz!🇨🇵 Lucy
# 1 wearing something different and # 4 connecting with nature. I never get outside enough...I'm always indoors. Only go outside to walk to my car and then into a store or whatever my destination is. Thanks for the reminders and for all your GREAT videos!
Diane, thank you for the 3 day format! I am getting so much done in 10min. After I watched your video yesterday on Friday, I gathered All the NEW clothes in my closet and tried them on. It felt so good. I don't know why I never wear my new clothes when I buy them and continue to wear the old ones. The self care mission is #4 being in nature. It's too cold to go outside this morning but I will sit in the sun shine coming through the windows in my den. Its just a wonderful time in the sun in the morning! Thank you Diane!
This weekend, I am saying no to extra family gatherings to take care of myself and my family. We will be seeing the same extended family for Easter next weekend, but we are guarding our home and well-being. I'm excited for calm and relaxation. Learning to say no.
