I like that you asked what the room was going to be used for and what ages. You didn't just plow through without taking their needs in consideration. 💖 You actually listened to them. 💖
My only worry is. . . .how am I going to have the patience to wait until next week to see the next episode?!? This is turning out so gorgeous! Thanks to you all and all the companies that have donated their time, talent, products, supplies, etc to this deserving organization to help the kids. You can feel the love and excitement by watching this video. Dani you are truly one in a million!
I just pretended that Danni took the week off, so I could watch them back to back! Now here I am, one week later saying, I think she should paint the desk legs the same as the walls so they don't stand out in the glaring white😊 I do still have to watch the second part yet...
Looking forward to seeing the final result! Brava Danie, and Marnie and Josh too. 👍💕 Many thanks to all the sponsors for their generosity, and knowing how kind they were definitely makes me more inclined to use their business in future. ❤ 😊 Never hurts to be kind! It's also interesting to learn about new and useful products 😉
SaturDIY with Danie!!! Woo hoo. Let the magic begin. The sorry girls did this all of Canada being improved one place at a time. I know this is going to be epic.
Love seeing Josh, but it was super cool seeing Marnie again! EVERYTHING is FABULOUS, can’t wait to see the finished product. Those youth and adults are going to be so stoked!
Hey Danie this room is looking great! Thought I would share a project I did…using Flor carpet tiles for a wheel chair accessible living space for my mom. The chair rolled easily over the carpet tile, and softened the acoustics and in case of a fall, a bit of padding. Easy to clean, and can’t say enough good about their product. I’ve also used it in university classrooms…
Oh my gosh... I'm so excited for you to show us the finished room! This is already looking so good! Also, I wish DAP, Flor, Home Depot and all your sponsors are available in my country so that I can show my support to them seeing how much they have helped you in this meaningful project. Thank you for doing this Danie!
Hooray for helping kids! Speaking from my young-life experience, sometimes the things and spaces provided to kids with disadvantages are plain ugly. That doesn't help their (that didn't help my) sense of self-regard. You showed these kids that people believe they deserve beautiful spaces. Besides, beauty and comfort inspire! Good on you, Danie, and good on your team! Important work.
Such a great comment. I think people tend to think about the idea of it just being pretty and pleasant. A kid understanding that someone made something special just for them can make all the difference in making them feel cared for. I'm sorry to hear you didn't always have that as a kid but I hope you feel now that you are supported and loved.
The chairs do look comfy and functionnal but I was wondering how the hell you were gonna make them work but baaaamm they look perfectly intentionnal with the contrasting teal and complimenting wood tones ! Great job !!!
I adore you DANIE! When you make over a space, and bring all your fun energy, collaboration, and silly dances, you fill a space with that joyful energy! Along with your amazing creativity, you share all of that with the people you do these spaces for, and THAT is the HEALING aspect of your gifts! 🫶🏻
Love this! All your signature creativity and fun and also helping others! Congrats on putting together so many pieces from so many places to make this happen. The outreach to the different companies and the coordination alone could fill up a lonnnggg episode (not that I would want to watch that). Love Marnie (more Marnie please) and Josh. P.S. clearly Kenobi was paying you back for not allowing him to roam free around the garage and endanger himself!
It makes me so sad to hear how much you miss your purple hair. Have your tried Overtone? It’s a color depositing conditioner, so not permanent, and not so damaging. They make colors for darker hair too, so no bleaching. Shine on! You’re so inspiring! 🎉❤🎉❤
Such a beautiful endeavor combined with your creativity indeed makes for real magic! Transforming young lives in a learning and supportive environment!
Oh wow, Danie, y'all are transforming that space. Can't wait to see what the kiddos and staff think of the completed project. Thank you to the sponsors/donors! BTW, my basement hall is swatched with 6 different shades of deep teal, and cool green, to figure out which one would be ideal to repaint that space. Not sure which hue will use yet. Decisions, decisions!
@@DIYDanie Next weekend will be the reaction, correct? Oh, there are 3 folks who live here, and this hall has our home theatre, utility room/laundry, and two offices, neither of which are mine, off of it. 3 opinions working to make a decision.🖤
I wonder if it would have been possible to spray paint the hideous ceiling tiles (she says tactfully). And just saying, as much as you are rocking the natural blonde look, if you want a hint of purple without using regular dye, could you try purple shampoo and /or conditioner? On my white hair it reads purple when I leave it on for a bit. Bold colour choice on the wall, especially in a windowless, florescent lit, basement room! So far, not loving the original red chairs, but I will reserve judgement... Btw, NICE WORKSHOP ;)
It looks amazing! I can't wait to see the end result! I thought I wouldn't like the red chairs with everything, but I was wrong. It pops in a really good way!
Saturday mornings are the best time of the week because of you! I look forward to seeing what you have planned. I suffer from depression and I can't tell you how you and your channel make me forget what is going on around me. I am so thankful for you and those around you. Brightest Blessing to you all! See you next Saturday.
Y'all are doing a wonderful thing here! I am so glad you had such wonderful people and companies to donate the products to help with this large renovation for a wonderful cause. Dani you and your crew are awesome people! Awaiting the video for next week.
Love this opportunity for you! You did an awesome job. My My My, the chairs really pop in this room. They look amazing with the wall color and rug! I'm so excited to see the reveal!!! 💜💜💜 When are we getting the purple hair back? I like your hair, but I really miss the purple. The purple matches your personality...Your sparkling personality!!
Also, I love that pink DAP drydex. It is literally the only way to make sure I wait the appropriate amount of time before sanding because I am so impatient.
Can't wait for the next video! Great job Danie,Marnie & Josh! And a big shout out to Home Depot Canada, Dab, & Ikea Canada for donating to such an Awesome project!
Wow Danie you are the best. I love the colors you are using as well as all the wood tones. It gives the room a homey warm look. Also love the rug and think it would look great in my own projects. Thank you for giving back
THAT'S what it is, the warm wood tones, YES! I usually find blues and other cool tones stifling, and didn't like the wall color-- until the wood was added. Cozied the whole place right up, and I dare say even helped me to understand how people can think of blues as "calming". They definitely compliment each other very well. It's coming together nicely! Can't wait for part 2 :)
Great project! Can’t wait to see the final result and maybe the reaction of some of the teens. Question: what product did you use to paint the outlet covers? The ones in my apartment are really old and ugly, so old there are no new ones to buy. I am from Germany and here they are made out of plastic. How could I redo them in a way that would hold up?
give them a good sand with a 220 grit sandpaper, then apply a primer on them before painting them the colour you want. Or in a more ideal world - get yourself a primer/paint in one! The sanding will rough up the plastic and help the paint stick better.
I’ve bee wondering: If you miss your purple hair, why don’t you use semi permanent dye? I know you’ve said that your hair is damaged but semi permenent doesn’t damage the hair so you can still use it🤔
Fantastic so far! What a cool project! However, I think you're going to regret using the Flor tiles. I have them. They show dirt so easily and are get worn-looking really quickly. Then your only option is to replace the tiles and individual tiles are pricey. Also, they shift and move a lot during use. Little spaces are always opening up between the tiles as people walk on them. I have a feeling those Flor tiles will be replaced in a couple year with regular commercial space carpeting. I think you should have left the floor the tile that's there, and just added a commercial quality area rug for the place where you want kids to relax and chill out.
I’m literally tearing up. Not only are you redesigning a space for your youth community but Home Depot Canada donated money toward this project. ❤️ y’all are amazing
Appreciated hearing more details about the Dap products- mixing with stain, etc.! Loved seeing the collaboration and enthusiastic support everyone offered! Excellent job!
OMG I’m so excited to watch this!! This is exactly the type of work that I’m interested in developing further as a career path. It’s interactive and experience design, and it looks at how the physical structures we’ve built help or hurt our overall well-being. I’ve seen people pursue this work in the healthcare industry, but I’m really interested in applying methods in academic settings like this. It’s essentially a blend of psychology/human development and interior design/architecture to make our spaces more accessible and human-centered. Love it! ❤
Is epoxy really bendable, anyway? I'm quite certain that you wouldn't ever have a tension free chair with this method. Or in other words - it would've snapped easily eventually, even if you were able to bend it. Bending it while it's not fully hardened is going to be your better bet next time.
Danie I can save you one step. After you goop on the wood filler and while it is still pink and wet, take a wet brush and brush over it to even it out so that it is like the paint, nice and level. It's very easy and then you don't have to SAND!! Saves much time and effort.
I should say that you can actually apply the wood filler with a wet brush if the wood filler is fresh enough. (The stuff I used today was not.) I can't believe how well it works and they don't say it on the label.
It was definitely time to improve that space. Your changes make the space look "richer". Hoping the kids feel more valued and cared for with the details you are adding. Can't wait to see how it all comes together
Beautiful blue! And I am checking out those florr tiles right away! That's an awesome product. I've seen foam ones, but not those. Very cool! Can't wait to see this all come together! What a beautiful donation group! And, MARNEY! (Marnie? Marny? Marni? I'm sorry!)
So cool looking and I will be so excited to see more of the DIYs going into this space. Really fun video to watch. I have catalogs of Floor and they have so many beautiful carpet tiles and so cool this color matching the walls. Have a beautiful and blessed rest of your weekend. Sending love and hugs, bye! 😍🤗💝💖💜👋👋👍
So freaking beautiful I’m speechless. Amazing job and I love how you always approach these videos with a budget and a dose of reality. Thanks for being you and going what you do ❤
Love what you're doing, such a great way to share your talents with your community. However, my OCD brain is stuck on the mix match of the carpet tiles. Love the color, but my brain needs a completed pattern. Lol. Great job so far, looking forward to part 2. ❤
You led that rug like a professional! Now this is what I would have done... Because you have a whole wall of desks I would have started at the opposite side... With a full square that way you would have only had to cut one wall and two side walls... But you're probably sleep better at night 😂
Yaay Marnie's back ☺ It seems like you have such a great team surrounding you Danie. I think the paint fumes might have gotten to you a bit when talking about nap length though 😅 I can't wait to see the end result.
