It's approximately 1 year, I greet you with my new song. I'm Kim Feel, a singer who came back with a song called "sleeplessness". Nice to meet you! 1)Usually what's the starting point for writing a song? Kim Feel: When I write songs, I think the starting point is the talking. In my case, I've always said this many times in any interview, I write the things which I want to say and the thoughts that I hear. This becomes a habit, I write the song, I am saying to myself I should write the song, from the moment I made up my mind, those things became very natural habits, so I always write them down like essay. I think the point is the talking. 2) Where did sleeplessness start and what's the completion of this song? Kim Feel: just, I think, started from the basic feeling we feel of ‘loneliness’. I had a hard time because I couldn't sleep at night. I seriously thought about this loneliness at the time, and eventually it is very natural for me to feel sleeplessness and loneliness, in a way it is because I still have a powerful will and energy about life to go further. I said to myself “ You can't fall asleep’. I think it’s a song that starts with loneliness and ends with the message "We're still okay." 3)There are a lot of lyrics, what's the first part that came out? Kim Feel: I'd like to talk about it first. This song itself came out very natural and not forced. I had a few moments like this, I think this song came out the most natural and not forced. Actually, this year, I've been thinking about what to talk about, I had a lot of thoughts on what kind of song to deliver to you. I thought a lot about what I could talk about in this situation, but this song came out so naturally. It starts with a verse called ‘deep sunken days in loneliness and sleeplessness’ and I firstly wrote until verse ‘and the moment my eyes close, the impressions that arise’. When I was writing this song I had time like this, I've been having a really hard time this year because of my sleeplessness. I think that was the first part I wrote. And, as you know it's not difficult, the word "thrilling by loneliness" might seem old, but I wrote it down because I thought it was a very appropriate word to suit the situation. Loneliness that no one can fill? And the afterimage, I also talked about the afterimage that came to my mind. 4)What was meant to say in the chorus?/what did you want to express in the chorus? Kim Feel: I'm sure some of you already know. When I watch movies that I like, I get inspired by those people. My favorite writers and directors, I love their way of expressing them. While I was playing music rather than releasing it easily, I hope the fans can find and feel the hidden meanings while listening to the music. But if you think that the talk in this chorus is difficult, it can be difficult, to say something I can't hear is something that no one can hear, and an invisible imagination is something that's invisible to others and invisible to me. I talked like that. It's a situation where you feel deficient in what you want to say and what you want to achieve. And there's that in the next line, I am asking myself again "Is it just me?' but I think that many of you would have this kind of thoughts. 5)Kim Feels' s music is like looking at his memoirs. So, as you can see from my live performance, I have that kind of energy. Because I was a person that liked it that way, As much as I do , I tend to reveal myself as much as moments when I do music. So, my songs also contain my pain and my worries. Especially in this song, I think it contains a lot of stories like that. 6)There is a contradictory mixture of sense of shame and hope in it. Kim Feel: In order for what the other party is saying to fully reach my heart, I have to feel the other party’s sincerity. Talking about hard times and good moments, I have to be honest in order to empathize with them. That's why I want to be more honest with the songs I'm making. That's why I think there are a lot of expressions like this. I think there are many expressions that are retrospective and sad. But at the end of the song, I always sing a song of sympathy, hope, and comfort. I like happy endings. 7)Episode of filming the M/V for "sleeplessness " Kim Feel: Ever since I got the nickname "Winter Man" and "Vocal Icicle" , I've always had the image of making a comeback when it's cold. As expected last year and this year when it is cold, if you watch the music video, the movements I do looks natural but to be honest, the members and the staff put a hot pack under the bed saying it was cold, and the clothes I was wearing were too thin, in the top was cold and because the hot pack was too hot was touching my skin. It was so hot that I was trying to move around without being noticed. That’s why I couldn't fall asleep in the music video and looked like I was tossing and turning. Actually, this can be a little bit distracting, I hope you watch my interview after watching the music video. 8)Music video that feels different than ever before Kim Feel: I don't think I've ever shot a music video like that on a set. We've only filmed music videos three, oh four times so far. I didn't sing, I just acted like I was walking, acting like I was sitting, watching far away, but this time, I tried really hard to match my lips and express my emotions. It was a perfect set for this song and a contextual expression. I had a lot of fun and I think it was the best moment. 9)The last word Kim Feel: First of all although this song started with my pain and lonely moments, as a result, I communicated with you . While I thought about what I should talk about to you, I think this song is definitely finished. Thank you for being the inspiration for the song. It's a relief that I can deliver my song in 1 year to you. At the end of 2020, I'm happy and glad that I am able to tell you personally that your insomnia is not a painful moment, it's very natural and that it's a moment for me to get closer to you. 내가 나랑있는게 견딜 수 없이 힘든 시기가 오면 머릿속이 엉망이 되고 그게 마음으로 이어지고 ...겉보기 멀쩡하게 하루를 보내고 가끔 창밖을 보며 죽고싶다 생각하다가 집에 와서 침대에 누우면 모든게 물밀듯이 오고...머리가 불타는듯 하고 잠은 안오고... 그래도 진부하지만 남들이 말했듯 결국은 지나가고 이겨내게 되더라구요. 못 이겨내면 죽으니까. 내가 나답지 못하고 무지했던 시간은 참 게으르게 편안했고 내가 나다워지는 과정이 고통스럽다는걸 이해하기가 처음엔 어려웠어요. 김필님 정규1집을 그 힘든 시기에 만난건 고통스럽지만 나아가는 과정이었던 그 시기의 큰 힘이었어요. 한 곡 한 곡이 너무 소중했어요. 침대에 앉아 모든 곡을 순서대로 듣다가 Pray에서 엎드려 핸드폰을 꼭쥐고 엉엉 울던때가 이젠 까마득 하면서도 그 감정은 생생하네요. 그 앨범으로 김필님을 처음 만났는데... 제겐 '익숙한 따스함'으로 느껴졌어요. 요즘도 가끔 마음이 서글할때 찾게되는 노래 '불면'과 1집 곡들을 무사히 잠들며 들을 수 있게되서... 비터스윗하게 살맛나요^0^ 마음 깊이... 이 고마움을 떠올릴 때면 입이 열리지 않고 마음이 가만히 조여들만큼... 감사해요
