Regarding our sense of being located somewhere in our head behind our eyes, Peter Russell has an amusing thought experiment - “Imagine that your eyes and ears were transplanted to your knees, so that you now observe the world from this new vantage point. Where would you now experience your self to be - in your head or down by your knees? Your brain is still in your head, but your head is no longer the central point of your perception. You would now be looking out from a different point, and you might well imagine your consciousness to be in your knees. In short, the impression that your consciousness exists at a particular place in the world is an illusion. Everything we experience is a construct within consciousness. Our sense of being a unique self is merely another construct of the mind.”

It’s always pleasant hearing questions asked that have arisen in me. Like the first two questioners, there is a very strong presence of awareness located somewhere behind my eyes, but in space, once my physical eyes are closed. I affectionately refer to it as my ‘spiritual’ eyes. It seems like it is from there I’m able to ‘scan’ or see through my body, it is from there I’m able to experience healing and actual ‘see’ my physical eyes, and seems that it is from there I’m able to visit the vastness of space. I was in my Mom’s presence when she exited the physical world and was acutely aware that it was from there she exited her body. It seems that this is where tears originate from in the moments of bliss and when the intensity of love is experience. It is the happiest, most pleasant state/place to be even when the prevailing circumstances are unfavorable. Can’t thank you enough Alan for these compilations.
Great comments!! Even with the eyes open if we look in direct experience we don't actually see through two eyes, instead we all see through one vast, borderless window! This is indeed the third eye that you so beautifully speak of 💕

How does this explain suffering with physical pain? I have been near Mooji and at his ashram and the physical pain stopped bothering me, (I knew it was there...hard to explain) But now that I am back home and after several months I am suffering worse with physical pain.
@@Pennee101 physical pain is a necessary arising and should be given attention. If nothing can be done to ease the pain we can drop the label pain and go to the sensation itself without an intent to either keep it or get rid of it and it will decrease in severity.
at least one advaita teacher claimed that 2 digits to the right of the centre of the chest is where awareness emerges into the body leading to the i am the body illusion. to correct the illusion of consciousness being located between the eyes it is advisable to move awareness to this area
Yes, but I wouldn't say it was necessary. Many teachings suggest putting the attention in the heart of solar plexus. Some say imagine awareness being behind you. Others say, see that you have no head in direct experience. Awareness is only a label for knowing and that doesn't reside anywhere. 🙏
But when I don't take or do any things that steal my energy I feel more conscious and my behavior naturally changes. I'm getting more sensitive and able to see things that can direct my attention to myself... So, I believe that healthy life can be an important detail on the path that leads to the realization

Hi Alan, Firstly, I would like to thank you for your time and say that I am pleasantly surprised that you not only read the comments to the beautiful Rupert videos with the stunning illustrations that are uploaded to your channel but you reply to them. I was under the impression that there was no time for that. Secondly, I would like to say something about the King Lear character played by John Smith. I was listening to a song this morning and it occurred to me that one of the main difficulties of the king role is the illusion of superiority and the power over ‘all’ others - from a relative point of view, of course. In other words, the realization of John Smith as King Lear’s true nature does not seem very appealing as he, as the king of the material world is supposed to be the one with the most to lose. As a result, and out of fear he gets overly attached and loses himself within the constraints of the role. More than anything else, they believe in the security of a concrete world and this is a direct result of the reality dictated by his kingdom. Consequently, he seems to be provoking his own misery. It would be best for King Lear to listen to the advice on the video you posted. The willingness to realize his true nature by recognizing that he is only John Smith playing a temporary role in an illusory material world would put an end to the drama. Thank you.

Rupert is always pointing us back to our true nature. The experience is direct and beyond question. From that recognition we can ask further clarifying questions so it's useful to have a teacher etc.
Sasriyakal Baalaji, You don't need to continuously refer to a book/guru/videos etc. The only way to "recognisation" is through direct experience.All these tools are just tools. Motivation/methods for you to go stay in internal silence and see what happens!There was a historical reason for having a guru back in the day (no technology, information scarce or esoteric meaning you needed to be initiated to receive the wisdom). Now the teachings are available from home!So use the teachings as a tool to find out for yourself.You can only realise the self through silencing the mind. When the mind is silent and the present moment/stillness is continuous you will realise experientially that existence is one whole.There is a difference between experiential and conceptual truth! So use concepts as a tool to motivate you to stay in silence!Hope that helped uncle.
Frans Kromhout : Firstly, technology does not cut it. It is the transmission of the Guru that is the key-the only key- never words from a screen. Here are some quotes from the great teachers : Kabir resolves the dilemma of who to choose between God and Guru in one of his verses :- “Both God and Guru are standing in front of me, whose feet should I touch? It’s your Guru, told me God”. It implies that when faced with one’s teacher and God, blessings of the teacher should be sought first since it’s the teacher who guided one to the path of God. He further stresses the role of the teacher in one’s life through another of the verses :- “One who doesn’t follow the teaching of one’s teacher is blind. If God abandoned us, teachers will show the true path. If the teacher abandoned us, there is no way to go. Another angle as to why a Guru is helpful is as follows: No one can concentrate on God, because God is beyond all limitations and any limitation, even goodness, limits God. The seeker therefore looks upon God as the origin and end, within and without all things. And while a sincere seeker will hesitate to say God is in evil, he or she does not exclude one single atom from the being of God. It is somehow easier to idealize and personify perfection in the known, in the Guru. (It is easier to see no evil in the Guru.)
