Neat trick with the soap, didn't realize that worked! I always use that black oil based hoof packing. My old man has a ton of it idk if you can even buy it anymore lol

Oh funny, you can still get certain types of it but I see it in old barns all the time when I'm shoeing. Good to know!

Stay away from Irish Springs, I tried that in shoeing school and it cleared out the whole building 😂

..i'm gonna have to add the soap to mine. it's an old candle melted down in a soup can with some coal dust in it. Thanks for the tip...

It makes sense, I made Torbjörn Åhman's punch lube that contains dry graphite, dry moly, dish soap and water. Amazing stuff. Seems the soap is the common denominator.
