Feels Like Spring | Big River Management Area and Carr Pond Meander

It was a beautiful day to walk through Big River and enjoy the streams and ponds. Certainly didn't fee like early March. Or maybe this is just what early March feels like now.

Big River has a lot to offer m. I’ve ridden my bike there several times. Great cinematography, I could feel the warmth just watching.

Yes, despite our dense population we have some nice forested areas to explore. If only I could will a few mountains into existing, Rhode Island would be perfect!

@@RhodySeth sounds a plan mate (long term recovery trumps short term adventures especially big ones ) I took a bad fall on a glacier late last year (5 days in a Bavarian hospital film to follow) tore up my arms and dislocated my shoulder 🥲 It’s getting there now thankfully but trad climbing and via Ferrata are out till June 🙏🏼 But that’s ok I’m thankful for how it turned out 🙏🏼🙏🏼🏔️very thankful

Weather has been nice lately!! Good luck with the surgery later this month! Hopefully it’ll be a quick recovery! We all know how much you love running and I know how being sidelined from doing something you love is rough! However, the sacrifice now will make you be able to keep running longer! 👍

I've been to Carrs Pond a couple times: looking for boulders to climb. Beautiful place. Maybe I'll hit it up tomorrow afternoon with the family. Weather forecast is looking fair.

@@RhodySeth They don't, not much anyway as far as I know. I wasn't very successful in finding good quality climbable stuff. Would need to spend more time in the area.

Yeah, it's been tough not to get down in the dumps. I'm planning a mountain trip next weekend. Hopefully my knee will cooperate and let me have at least one winter outing this year!

They used to pump water out of there. Big River is interesting . Years ago people lived there and then the state seized it for eminent domain. They planned to turn it into a reservoir. Plans fell through and it ended up becoming a management area. One of the largest in the state.
