omg, I miss the tv shows from those days- especially shows like Frasier, charmed (original), and Buffy... please do give me some recs if you know any good tv shows- I need one like rn! (especially with the current writers strike).
@@shareenkhan9825greek- it was on abc family!! not the 90s but early 2000s soo it’s still that vibe but the relationships they portray are what make the show, plus it was wayy ahead of its time writing & casting wise 💕✨
@@music026 except for the back to the future magic mess at the end. This is very well done. She was right, she thought she went to NY for Ben, but it was not the real reason.
@@triborn217 I am always torn between dawsons creek and felicity but jens death is just what makes me watch dawsons creek again and again more than felicity.
i was college when this aired on tv, now i am 36 and still watching this every now and then. one of the best tv series ever. love felicity and ben forever.
When you heard about JJ Abrams people always talk about Alias, Lost, Fringe, Star Trek new movies, Mission Impossible and Star Wars the Force Awakens... but Felicity was my first approach to J.J.
When I was little, Regarding Henry would always play on HBO, and I'd watch it with my grandma whenever we could catch it. When I grew up, I was shocked to find out that was my actual first encounter with JJ's work.
This was back when TV shows didn't have huge budgets or great special effects but had something sorely lacking today, soul. It seems like somewhere along the way America lost its soul. I just haven't seen anything in recent times that I can connect with so personally. For me, this show will always be a way back home and to find my younger self.
@@OswinPond Agreed on Better Call Saul but it's placed in the early 2000s and the best show currently on television and a major exception from the current mainstream because it is not paced nor feels like a current show.
I was 3 years old when this first aired and my mom absolutely loved this show. I remember when we were watching this together. Now I’m a college sophomore and I’m glad I found it 😊 it’s one of my favorite shows.
Omg why did I never watch this show back in the day? I remember hearing about it but never got to it. Now that I’m 30 yrs old I am catching up and trying to watch the shows of the 90s. Feeling nostalgic 😩
Looking back on a new rewatch of this show, it really strikes me how the way she describes how she feels about life at this point of her high school graduation is how you can describe depression. Not feeling anything. To see the moment that she has with Ben jump start her and give her the inspiration to make a big change makes me wonder what her life would have been if she had stayed in Palo Alto.
What a great show. Even watching this clip brought back so many memories the nostalgia the yearning. Decided I wanted to go to NYU after watching this show lol. Almost made me want to cry it was so good. So bummed this got taken off of Netflix.
I used to watch this shows when they aired it in the back in Cuba when I was in my early teens and man I used to love it, still love it o found it on Hulu There are others like one tree hills, the Dawson creek good shows back them I’m 30 now and I’m still in love with them
This show is when I fell in love with Scott Speedmen and then came Underworld oohhh my goodness and then Animal Kingdom!!! I loved this show and My So Called Life. Highschool UGH!!!
I am honestly astonished this connection isn't discussed more online. The spirit is absolutely fluid from one show to the next (and the timelines fit so perfectly, too). Yes, the music; yes, the opening credits montage (sepia toned/ stretched out dreamlike for MSCL, black n white/ photos in motion for Felicity); yes, the nuance and dreamtime of storylines and feelings in between. Angela and Felicity have quite orthogonal ways of behaving/ dealing with the world (like, it feels like Angela is actually existing in complete silence most of the time, swept up in feelings and images but it's wordless; where Felicity has more chatter in her head, always re-analyzing her choices and trying to predict consequences and implications; some of this difference might chalk up to age, ofc, but also I feel like it's that they're genuinely diff personality types). And yet, that spacious, reflective atmosphere permeates and sets the tone for both shows, and makes them spiritual twins. These two will be my faves forevermore.
Dear Felicity, Here it goes. I’ve watched you for four years. Always wondered what you were like...what was going on in your mind all the time that you were so quiet, just thinking, drawing in your notebook. I should have just asked, but I never asked you. So, now, four years later, I don’t even know you, but I admire you. Well, this makes me sound crazy, but I’m okay with that. So take care of yourself. Love, Ben P.S. - I would have said “keep in touch”, but unfortunately we never were in touch. Love this show!!! Ben & Felicity the greatest love story 😍
My crush started throwing herself in my path, we talked the last few weeks of school, and she gave me my first kiss on the last day. Couldn't believe it.
My wife. Girlfriend at the time. Watched this show religiously! Maybe because we were so in love. The Ben, Felicity relationship. The fear that something you want so much. Might somehow fail. That was the theme of the show. I think anyone in love. Could relate to this show. We loved it!💕
When I was a kid in the 90s this show was a huggggge hit. I’m in my early 30s now rewatching it and I have so many questions. A stalker gets one message from a guy she likes and decides to uproot her life to go across the country because he signed her yearbook? Let’s just switch the roles for a second what if it was Ben that was madly in love with Felicity and got his yearbook signed by her and decided to follow her to college and confess his love watching his every move?
Never knew felicity because it never aired in France. I heard of it thanks to the actresses of OTH. NOW i have to watch it. God my émotions in only few minutes
I work in Higher Ed and have overseen RAs...this show really captures some pivotal moments in university life - even in 2021 Even if the material isn't correct, it's at least close enough that I can reasonably use it as an example and modify it a little to suit 2021 I'm very glad I just discovered this show a month ago
@@felicitypodcast1491 It seems to be. I haven't watched all of Season 1, but I got about 9 episodes in and it was EXCELLENT to teach RAs... The sexual assault scene between Amy Jo Johnson and the boy (I don't know their names) - and what happens after with the victim, the assailant, the RA's intervention, Felicity's struggle with confidentiality, etc. is MASTERCLASS in the dynamics involved in some of these situations as a university administrator. I'm thankful for the show in this regard, truthfully. It isn't all what we'd do today procedurally, but I can at least point to a realistic scenario and go "Okay, so this is roughly how the student feels and how we respond will affect their experience now at the university majorly in a positive/negative way. Also, aside from us, this is what the people AROUND that person is feeling, so remember that in our work"
@@TheBattProductions Not having been through training in this area, it is really good to hear that this show modeled good practices. Especially considering there probably weren't many shows before it that tackled a storyline like this in a college setting. We haven't gotten up to this episode yet in our podcast about our rewatch, so we are going to email you to see if you want to contribute your thoughts for our feedback section of one or both episodes in that two-parter. We would like to educate our listeners!
In eighth grade, I admired my first crush all year, afraid to talk to her. Near the end of the year, when I would deliberately get myself kicked out of math class to go home early, she'd be on the steps, and we'd talk. On the last day of classes, she invited me to a group outing to Burger King because she was leaving before finals. Our group of six wound down to just us, and as we were standing on the middle of Eighty-Third and Broadway, she smacked my first-ever kiss on my lips, surprising the heck out of me. Still one of the best experiences of my life. I then wrote her two love letters and got a "friendzone" letter in return (she later claimed my letters had been intercepted by her "protective" friend). That September, she appeared in my history class with a big smile on my face, and my teacher needling me. I pretended not to know her, concluding she was insane. Best decision I ever made, but that first kiss had to be among the coolest ever.
Meghan was the best supporting character ever that is before I discovered Karen Walker of Will and Grace…..Meghan hated Felicity and everything she use to do to her use to crack me up 😂😂😂
@@lillllyweasley3237 she's a shy/quiet stalker. she got him into trouble academically. stole his application essay. sure she's cute, but that's it - the rest would be enough red flags to go running the other way
I just found the title.😭😭😭😭😭 I always remember the leading female characters and face ang the strut 20 years ago and I intend to watch again in netflix 😭😭😭😭😭
Is possible to be friends to someone you have sort of immoderate feelings or am I doing it forever just to be inlove and be ultimately and significantly hurt..
Saw her on the NYC subway about this time...all by herself in a corner. She looked at me since I was the only one who appeared to notice her. I would't think of bothering her, as it seems she was trying to be incognito.
Ben was nice to her and she “falls in love with him,” and moves to New York to follow him? Freaking creepy. Felicity Porter is one bad day away from being Joe Goldberg. I know that’s hyperbole, but damn, that sounds like something he’d do.
i hate how it began in the fall of 1998 for undertaker with his REAL graveyard theme after his face was smushed completely by yokozuna and king mabel that's why foley is good book devil vince firefly fun house's return if not lacy evens on something for wwe themselves gosh though
