Both of them have such beautiful tennis games. So much fun to watch. I think Felix needs to get into the net more and Thiem needs to learn the 2017-2021 Fed backhand where he flattens it out on the rise. He loses too much ground taking all those one handers on his back foot

@bernardocallahan you realize he's playing against Felix, one of the few guys that took Nadal to 5 sets at RG, and also gave Alcaraz and Djokovic a couple of tough matches last year, right? Thiem just has had bad luck with draws and by his own words is a rhythm player, needs to play ALOT of matches win or lose to have that confidence. Shout out to the AO radio commentators who kept proceedings fun despite a VERY long day. This match was yet another insane R1 five setter. Even the seagulls needed them to wrap it up. FAA's flight plan took the long route to victory. Way to not close out the 3rd set TB, let Theme back in, get tight during the 4th set, & almost get broken AGAIN at the start of the 5th. When he gets scared, Felix stops coming to net & takes too much time to serve which then messes him up. He gets too precious under pressure. Sometimes you just have to bulldoze your way through & get it done.

Agreed. Strong analysis. Towards the end, it seemed like Felix loosened up on his backhand and started swinging out. He's a different player when he gets racquet head acceleration on the backhand. I think Felix just needs to relax out there and let his game fly. Forget the expectations and all that. Just swing.

It seemed FAA did stay aggressive but your point was aggressive by attacking the net. Yes he should attack more he has good volleys and nice touch at the net. I think a serve and volley would be a game changer for FAA.

Such a shame to see Domi's gave it all and try his absolut best best still came up short..... glances of brilliance, but lack of consistency, have some hope left for he to return stronger this year, hopefully he can build a stronger mindset for the clay court season, where he has way lot better chances, tho. Cause I dont think the wrist or the rhytm are the main issue anymore.. Always rooting for him to get back to his top form
