Sacred choral music is one of the pillars of Mendelssohn's work. Mendelssohn devoted himself to sacred vocal music as early as the 1820s with his first attempts at composition. He is the author of more than fifty sacred works, including a cappella motets, cantatas, polyphonic psalms, and works for various liturgical circumstances and oratorios.
Mendelssohn's last complete choral work dating from 1847, the Three Moses opus 69 reveal the composer's divine gift for great music which help to lift the human spirit to pleasures of beauty and sublimity.
