I'm new to your channel, but I love your content. I miss climbing a lot. I had a tree kick back and it crushed both of my legs. Doctor's told me that I wouldn't walk again. But a year and 9 months later and I'm walking again. It wasn't an easy road by far, but I did it. My granddaughter was born and when she started to crawl, I crawled with her, and by the time she started walking, I was walking with her. I miss cutting trees and climbing so much brother, but I watch your videos and it really helps me out of this depressed mood I've been in. Just wanted to say, thank you for there. My Granddaughter is now 15 years old, and she is my world. And I can say that if it wasn't for her, I'd probably be in a wheelchair or not around. But I want to let you know that you have truly helped me, without even knowing it. But I wanted you to know, you have saved my life, and gave me the will to keep going and not to just give up. I just wanted to say thank you.
Lucas, OMG just read your text. You made me cry. I'm so sorry you had to go through all what has happened to you. So happy your still around. Iv become a grandad too. He's two & half. Just love him so much. Thay say you love your kids but your in love with you grandkids. That's what life is all about, you think your life is over then bam, something happens that makes you want to keep on living. Respect man respect. As Buckin Billy Ray Smith said you can't do anything about the past but look to the future. Love you love all the Buckin family ✊❤
You are one hell of a man Lucas! Stories like yours inspires the heart and excites the spirit to never give up. Thank you for sharing it with us. Stay strong brother.
I get the feeling you never get bored when you cut. There is a special feeling l get. On a difficult tree when its said and done. Ya got a great life enjoy.
Buckin, that was AMAZING how you wedged that leaner. Only a man with vast experience would've pulled that off. I was worried for you. You're DEFINATELY the man.
It makes so much sense, Buckin', when you make that back cut, it's still like an elephant foot putting pressure down. Then you get wedges in and do the small front cut, and bang it over. You are like a wizard buddy! Dang.
Honestly cant thank you enough for sharing your experience been a subscriber for over a year now and its the best channel for me to learn what i need to know... I have picked up so much from you... Thank you... 🏴❤️
Its amazing watching you lift up that tree. Can't wait to try a back cut first. In a place I don't need it to work of course. Thanks for all the love and wisdom you put in to the world!
This is an artform like never seen before, displayed and filled with lessons so rich. Thank you Buckin', you are a legend and a master of the trade. How's the old knee? Keep it up man! I've just recently started my own channel, hoping to spread your message over the big pond in time! Love for the new subscribers, you won't regret following, guys!
I have to say, when that tree landed next to the other one. It put a smile on my face. The write up below me, tells me that through pain and the will to move forward, all is possible. Doing things that are not easy makes us who we are. Good luck to everyone.
Super awesome to watch! You really highlight the importance of being able to truly read the tree and all the info you can take in to make a decision. Not just relying on mechanic means. Fantastic work!
Thank you for making these videos buckin!!! These videos are awesome for tree guys like me just starting out!! I’ve learned so much in a short time from you!!!
You sir are a true surgeon with a power saw ! I always look to your video's for inspiration !!! We all need this in our ever day lives . I just wish more people would watch your video's and take heart t what you instill into people like me . THANK YOU

This guy is so good and less you have done this you cannot appreciate how hard it is. This is the most informative person I’ve ever learned woodworking from. Excellent wedge work. Thanks for the knowledge
I appreciate you sharing the knowledge you have. I love being an arborist, I love my job, and I love to learn any and all tricks, techniques, an tools of the trade I can acquire. I gain quite a lot from your videos, so thank you. Stay safe man
Billy your awesome man, I love your skill and passion buddy, awesome! so cool seeing a guy who got sober and go full out with the saws and your passions. You are inspiring, makes me want to find a hobby and study it enjoy it and just do it!
Can I just say. Buckin Billy Ray Smith , you have touched the heart and soul of all off us on your channel. I don't know anybody who has a bigger heart then you. The vibe that you give out is just amazing. The wisdom and knowledge is second to none. You make are lives a lot brighter in the darkest days. Thanks for that. ✊❤
Awesome job cutting down that leaner! Thanks for showing us. I can't wait to get out in the woods and try it out. I've got a bunch of leaners that I can practice on that aren't near any houses! Keep up the good work. I love your trucks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼 thanks for the positive attitude. It keeps me going the right direction!
Outstanding Billy. I`ve only been an arborist (trying) for 6-7 years, I`m kinda sad that we don`t have these big ass noodles in the UK. It was thrilling to see that first stem lift up on the wedges like that, took the bow right on out of her. Stay safe and happy my man.
This was beyond excellent as far as showing us the technique, Buckin. I'll be honest, when you were making your back cut first, I was thinking to myself that you were going way too deep. But I realized after watching the process that you have to cut deep enough to get the backside to lift because there's no face cut! I've mentally processed how the back cut first method might go, but never considered that the tree could be driven over some before the face cut is even started. That lift after you cut the face was just awesome as well. Really spot-on job, it was almost like you'd done it before, haha.
Absolutely amazing. I have so much faith in my felling ability, I let somebody else do it. Thank you sir, what a joy to watch. Feb 6, 2021 -North Central Florida
Great information! I'm not a tree service but I do fell trees in the woods for firewood. This is something I need to try on a couple I have picked out. Love all around. I love it. Have a nice day
Yup!!!mmmmmh yup! Buckin you have literally just won the Fallin belt for eternity! Yonmon your right better than any movie! That tree wasn’t leaning it was literally laying over! The other way and I’ve never seen that cut before! So awesome! Buckin as always your inspiring us so ty for the footage! He’s the best that ever did it
Billy....that Palm tree was a Yucca Plant......I really liked the whole video & your drifter acting at the end was so much a reward in seeing. A nominee of a Oscar for You....Thanks
Nice camera work mitch. Good evening folks hope you're all well and staying safe. Another expert lesson from Buckin. Stay safe everyone regards from across the pond
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith Good morning Billy. I'd be very happy to say hi to everyone at the farm. We've had a nasty visit from the corona virus on the farm. But fortunately things are looking better. We hope you're all well and everyone here are thoroughly enjoying the videos. As you expect things are getting very busy once again, new lavender fields being planted. Sincere best wishes to you all
Nothing better than setting in the hospital holding my brand new baby girl and watching a brand new video from buckin. Great shot buckin keep em comin!!!
Man this is a great video, lessons for those falling leaners, and.......lesson for when to stand up and call Buckin’ in or another experienced pro. I’ve cut a few firs and spruce here in Oregon, but that leaner and pulled stump looked like trouble......Buckin walks us through and nails it. Thanks for sharing.
Man you are so inspirational.. Especially when you hit us with that "title text here" that went real deep 😤👊💯.. Dumb jokes aside, I think you are amazing man! Thank you for sharing your awesome work❤️
I’m new to your channel as well. I’ve never been so interested in wood cutting! I’m fascinated by the intricacies of how many ways to fell a tree. Strong work. Your stock went up when I saw your squint eyes.😂.
Drifted up to Alaska 50 years ago on the State Ferry. Met some tramp (drift) loggers on the ferry and got off in Petersburg then straight to False Island camp as a choker dog for Sauterberg logging. Loved it and still drifting. Keep em comin Billy. Love ya
Happy Thursday, my friend! So glad to see another video! Made my day! :) I hope you and your family are doing well! I'm gonna be taking down the rest of this dead tree in my parents' back yard on Saturday. Owen will of course be there. haha I wish you all the best, Buckin'! Be kind!
Start of the video “friends” you ain’t no friend you’re family Buckin , you are part of my family , you are my conscience sitting on my left shoulder all the time , nudging me on , keeping me strong , keeping me motivated every single day being a better person 💪🙏 that’s some serious strong hingewood brother 😊
I have several degrees including one in robotics, so I comprehend things physical quite well. Even so, I am watching your videos at a very slow rate, both in part and in the whole. Though city educated, I have always been a country boy at heart and am retired now on a small ranch in east Texas. My shop has an extensive selection of tools for nearly every trade. Yes, I even have a selection of 5 chainsaws and tree climbing gear. When I have a project that I am unfamiliar with I usually devour videos several hours at a time. For a complex project I may study several days. Even so, I am watching your videos at a very slow rate, both in part and in the whole. Sometimes I slow the speed of the video down to 50% and take days or even a week between videos. I am crawling through your videos to fully absorb what you are teaching. I do have some upcoming cuts to make, thus my interest. I must say, you are the Master of masters of your craft. Having seen but several handfuls of your videos, I risk stating something you may have said somewhere. I've watched several of your "leaner" cuts. When looking at the bottom of a leaning tree such as this tree, one would swear there is no way it's going to fall opposite of the lean. I see now that even though the bottom outweighs the top, the upper half, or 2/3, of the tree can employ the power of leverage. This cut gave me an epiphany and inspired a statement of clarity for me. "The bottom follows the top".
Amazing work my friend! Just endless amount of experience and knowledge. Boys and girls...listen, watch and learn from a master of his craft. Take care Buckin
oh man these videos scare the crap outta me! when i was younger i was cutting down pretty fair size fir, larch with no experience no wedges just cutting down trees. this wisdom here is pricless, glad im still here to learn. thanks buckin im really digging the content buds :)
N Buckin I love ya buddy. These cuttin videos are my very favorite. I cut n bang alot of trees over. I clear akers of trees at a time to put subdivisions in. And I learn alot from you buddy
Tell the manleys we said hi buddy!! Those are some beautiful Doug firs and an even more beautiful job buddy!! Learned me a lil on that video so thank you sir!
Love is the spirit of the drifter. Great work movie Buckin, you are now one of the official movie stars of RU-vid. You and the drifter, but don't tell Cletus, he'll be jealous.
Hey Buckin I just subscribed to your channel. I have been watching your for a good while and have learned a lot from you. Thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge.
Well, it takes a lot of skill, knowledge, and courage to fell a heavy leaner like that, so close to someone's house. I've done a fair amount of leaners in the forests, but I would not be comfortable executing what you've just done. You have my utmost respect, Sir. Stay safe and stay sharp. Greetings from DSW Handcraft ;)
I have to admit this is a beautiful yard Mitch has.. It's spacious, has some old trees, some groomed parts, flower beds... Oh man. My dad has a name for our property. He calls it a double bed yard, cause it's a bit bigger than the bed. We have to squeeze our cars into it and drive the cars out from the yard if we want to go out with a bike or wheelbarrows. Seeing the space Mich has drives a tear to my eye.. But that's city living vs a country side properties..
“It hurts when I open mine eyes so I try n keep-it to a minimum…….yuh never alone!” I thoroughly enjoyed your tutelage and your presentation was jus as entertaining…..definitely felt as If I am his friend🙏🏽
BR you just demonstrated the difference between a layman and a real professional tree man. I thought you were going to climb up and take sections off and rope them down to the ground. I was astonished to see the way you made those leaners go right where you wanted them. Also, your ad lib at the end had me laughing from my guts! Great video Billy Ray!
