Intriguing to watch. I have been making small needle felted animals which are about the size of the eyes you have made.!I have trouble making eyes . Love the personal touches you add .
That’s a lot of fiddle farting about😂, definitely for younger fingers than mine! If I start using felt eyes I would definitely order and leave the work to you young ladies.
Yeah, it's definitely a process. However, that's why for myself, I make large batches at a time, so I can just get the work done in an afternoon and have a good stock of eyes.
Thank you for the tutorial! May I ask where you got the little “tong thingies” to put the eyes in the packages? I’ve looked through your lists and can’t seem to find them. Ty!
It's heat n bond, I believe you're talking about. If I called it sure bond, that was an accident. It comes in a roll. I got it on amazon. Here's a link: amzn.to/3N9XrcH
I started out using regular felt, but I've found that I like the stiffened felt better, and it almost seems like it works better without the heat and bond on the back of the felt as well.
Where do you buy the stiff felt? Or what’s it called. ?I didn’t see it on your google doc. I’ve been wanting it for other projects but can’t find it in my area and not sure what it’s actually called.
Whoops, that's an oversight with it not being on the google doc. I've bought too many things for my business haha. You can get it at hobby lobby and on amazon (I've bought it specifically from both those places... it's probably at other craft stores like Michaels too, but I've not checked to be sure). Anyway, I just always type in "stiffened felt" or "stiff felt" and it comes up. Idk if that's its actual name but it does the job. Here's a link to it on amazon. This many sheets will last FOREVER even if you're making felt eyes to sell lol. amzn.to/46ToiTi
I've used the regular blade before and haven't had too many issues. The only reason I prefer the rotary blade is because some of the eyes I make have lashes and that can be tough for just the regular blade.
Just in design space. They have a lot of shapes you can play around with and I have SVGs I've bought on Etsy too. And I've also dabble with making my own SVGs on Canva. But both the SVGs I buy and make, I put in design space and do the final like assembly of what the eyes will look like, if that makes sense.
I don't remember the brand, but I've switched to stiffened felt. It works better as far as cutting goes. I think, with stiffened felt, I can avoid using the heat and bond stuff in the future too. But I haven't tested a bunch without it. I was primarily only using the backing to make the cutting crisper, you know what I mean. But the stiffened felt is already crisp lol. Also, thank you!
