😮😮 Why? Why on Earth would a politician use a tragedy to gain support? It's stupid, not as dumb as those who choose to believe all the crazy misinformation but pretty up there.
I couldn't figure that out until I ran across this video. Jimmy Carter created FEMA 54 years ago with 2 executive orders. He was a democrat. So Republicans are attempting to destroy not only every bit of democratic work , but democracy as well .That's why GrumpyTrump and his minions aren't saying diddly about the false rumors.
Maggy Jerry (she/her) FEMA: "What were seeing right now is a shift in emergency management from utilitarian principles where everything is designed for the greatest good for the greatest amount of people to disaster equity"
Because it works. I'm not defending it. It is reprehensible. Anyone who has lied about the disaster, well, I wish there were strict laws against lying to the public, but there are not. Basically, it says Trump and anyone that supports him that knows about these lies, is just fine destroying lives, or even people dying, if their leader can gain power. Some of that sounds hyperbolic, but if you refuse help because of the lies, and your house collapsed on you because of it, well actions have consequences.
Some of them aren't politicians. They're just people who want people to think like them or want an audience. Attention is a helluva drug - just look at the influencer community
It saddens me that we're so divided that we can't even come together during a catastrophic event such as this and most of it started when a certain person became president in 2016, coincidence I doubt it.
Words matter. You really want a president that pushes harmful false truths during times of disaster for cheap political points? Have a heart and a brain.
What are people reporting? Now l do hear some complaining that they need help. So do other millions. It's a natural disaster so be patient. It's not like you'll never get the help that's coming. So sad that some believe that just because we're Americans that we'll get the red carpet treatment. Boastful behavior in our country is what l see. Be happy that we're blessed to be in a country where help is available. So many other parts of the world are really in desperate need that they'll probably never get from anyone. There only hopes is faith and prayers.
We're looking at widespread property damage, especially to infrastructure like roads, utilities, and buildings. Insurance claims will skyrocket, and the local economy could take months or even years to recover. Businesses will be disrupted, tourism will decline, and many people might face long-term financial hardships. Recovery costs could run into billions, and that's not including the toll on industries like agriculture and fisheries. It's devastating both economically and personally for those affected.
In light of the global crisis, rising inflation, and economic instability caused by inadequate governance, stocks, ETFs, Mutual funds, and REITs, assets can serve as a viable path to achieving financial independence
If you've achieved any financial security, savings, owning a house, a pension.... you'll find these are going to be a financial burden around your neck..... they'll tax you to oblivion..
Rising prices have affected my intention of retiring at 62, working part-time, and building my savings. I'm worried about whether individuals who weathered the 2008 financial crisis found it less challenging than my current situation. The stock market's volatility, coupled with a reduced income, is making me anxious about having enough for retirement.
More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.
A lot of folks downplay the role of advlsors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850k.
If it is misinformation and "baseless conspiracy theories", why do they have to keep addressing all these things instead of just letting people just say nonsense? Why are they going so hard to keep their narrative if we're just crazy people on the internet? That's like if you call a guy gay and he keeps doing a bunch posts and video uploads trying hard to prove he isn't. It just makes them look more and more guilty.
It is just so sad that some people in North Carolina have more hatred for the federal Government than they have compassion for their fellow citizens, and are in fact, willing to cause harm to their fellow citizens in an attempt to prevent federal aid assistance measures from succeeding. Harming friends and family just to bad-mouth a federal agency is the very definition of blind hatred.
It was reported by WNC news station that the incident was FEMA was on a man's property, the man didn't know who they were and assumed they might be trying to steal from him, so he confronted them with a gun. It was resolved quickly and peacefully.
I saw videos from Christian cults in Oklahoma who went to "spread good" by brandishing rifles and making RU-vid videos saying FEMA was rounding people up
Im in WNC, and the biggest issue was the lack of first response. Citizens not understanding that FEMA is not a first responder and saying for a week that there was no FEMA seen on the ground are not lying. Just misguided, justifiable anger. It took a week for most to see any response other than volunteer groups. We can have our US military any where in the world to be first response to help with disasters within 48 hours. Where was that kind of response for WNC. Btw, now anything that we share that we observed, it's all called "misinformation."
It is up to your governor who can deployed the National Guard to assist the citizens of state. Our taxes from another states helped out after the fact. Ask your Governor why?
Here here, our fire and rescue did nothing except deny water for use and no community interaction. In fact they spent their time washing trucks and parking lot while no water for those in peril. Had a mudslide taking my home and trees smashing the front, looked like Moses trying to flag down some help! People need to be fired and contracts need to be given to qualified morally obligated humans not the bs bureaucracy. Crab Creek strong. Keep helping your neighbors, cuz they are the only ones to be there first!!

The process id daunting! They have to apply, and if approved, they get a check or direct deposit (but they just lost everything and don't have their bank acct number). If they need further assistance beyond the initial $750, they have to apply AGAIN!
No ID or documents? Sorry all I can offer you is a ballot to vote. Some of the circles are already filled in for you as a courtesy from Kamala Mama…you’re welcome!
Some politicians would do anything and say anything to get a few votes. Certain politicians don’t give a flying fig about people suffering while they spread lies.
Who was that reporter? I wasn't able to watch because of 25 days without electricity. She spent more time talking to FEMA, showing a clip from Good Morning America then she did actually talking to the people who are living in and during this catastrophic event. This was not reporting this was making FEMA look good. Let's ask for another reporter, one who will come down and talk to the people and not worry about the bumpy road she has to drive on.
Thank you for the story on the devastation. Sure some wild stories, some not true but I am originally from that area. I have heard of more people being turned down for the initial assistance than approved. Why didn't your story focus on the massive amount of of aid, donations and volunteers rolling in from all over the country and from private sources and Non profits like Samaritan's Purse, the United Cajun Navy and other groups. The state of Florida sent State Guard search and rescue teams three days after the same storm hit them. FEMA may help rebuild but they are not, do not and can not respond to immediate needs. BTW FEMA supposedly had people predeployed, if so why did it take them a week to show up? Why didn't your story cover any of that? C'mon man
and asking people to call who have no electric,no phones, some stuck holding on to trees to not get swept away, and a couple of help centers miles away from people isolated on mountains full of debris, flooded, with roads washed away. Fema could have easily gotten the property tax records, check off who showed up and quickly gone looking for the people not heard of, like the family of 11 who all died. There are countless videos that show the truth, like the private helicopter man who was prevented from rescuing people off the mountain. When the truth comes out,a lot of people will be in shock.
@@ApocolypseZombie I beg to differ. Per press reports, the first FEMA truck got to Asheville and starting setting up operations on OCT. 6. over a week after the start of the storm. 1). They haven’t gotten enough help yet and aren’t considering the magnitude of the damage (no, your house isn’t going to be started to be rebuilt until the road the material has to come in on is rebuilt). Or 2). They are scared and have to scream. Or 3) they are lying or. 4) they are the kind of person who wants everything and wants it fast. Or 5) it’s a human tendency to blame everyone and everything when you’re under this kind of stress. Yes, it’s a mess and nobody is going to get their world back the way it was as fast as they want it. That’s just the way life can be. Ask anybody in the Middle East or Ukraine for starters.
@@suehowie152 REED TIMMER stated that there was no FEMA or other federal and or state assistance that he could see after a week and that most helicopters were citizens
It's kind of confusing here on the ground in Western North Carolina. People I'm working with some have been turned down for the 750 that I thought for sure would qualify. Others that I'm pretty sure don't qualify got the 750. People were really upset when FEMA came and was advertising to go online and sign up for FEMA assistance. We didn't have internet or phones. It was at least 8 days before anything can start. Most people thought FEMA would be doing the rescues. That did not happen. Most people don't know enough about FEMA to understand the process. I believe that has caused most of the anger.
Everything allocated has been deployed/is being deployed, but people do have to apply. More has to come from Congress which decided not to meet until after election

Thank you so much for going to Green Mountain. Communities up and down the North Toe and Cane Rivers were hit especially hard with historic high water and landslides. I live in Erwin, Tennessee, 20 or so miles downriver from the confluence of the North Toe and the Cane (they form the Nolichucky River). Erwin is at the mouth of the Nolichucky Gorge and the first place the Nolichucky could spread out. Local Emergency Management reported that they recovered over 99 cars in the floodplain, most of which probably traveled downstream from communities on the North Toe and Cane.

What has been great to see is these US communities coming together to help each other, that really is heartening. The truth of the FEMA response and the allocation of federal resources will become apparent in the coming months. The effects of Hurricane Helene on the Southern States is monumental and the federal response required is equally monumental, now let's see the scale of that response, no disinformation required.

Fellow citizens and volunteers have done the heavy lifting in this disaster. FEMA absolutely has stopped truck loads of donated goods from reaching those in need. I've seen it first hand. I'm not the only one. Disinformation... it appears to be the new jargon of the day. A shame. FEMA has a long way to go to catch up. Let hope they can figure it out.

They have BILLIONS for Ukraine and millions paid weekly to the Taliban. Again we pay 10+ million dollars WEEKLY to the Taliban. Can't help these people, though.
Shrug, FEMA did a poor job of being transparent regarding their efforts in the area. While it does take time to respond and get logistics rolling, this is what FEMA is supposed to be good at. Having people at the top stand in front of a microphone and tell the nation FEMA doesn't have enough money to handle a single Hurricane season, doesn't point to competence. The story also ignores the thousands of grateful residents who have thanked the hundreds of volunteers who have donated time, money and goods to them in their time of need.
Those same people saying FEMA doesn’t have enough money voted against giving FEMA enough money… The entire North Carolina delegation to congress voted against FEMA funding in September 2024 and the Republicans in the house are refusing to consider more funding until after the election.
FEMA wasn’t transparent? There were places with no roads! People trapped in isolated areas with no way in or out! But, sure…FEMA was secretly dragging trees into the roads in the middle of the night…using their super powers to knock down bridges and cell towers, too, so they could be SECRETIVE. What utter nonsense you’ve written.
This was prepared for as much as possible. A week before Helene hit, 82 Republicans, mostly from that area voted against relief. Then got on Twitter, complaining about how Kamala and Joe Biden we’re not helping. Also telling the public that the hurricane was engineered. Use your brain.

When you have to build roads in mountainsides to get there, yes it is slow going. As to money, aid outside the country is a tiny fraction of money spent inside country. A better question is why isn't the house of congress meeting to address this?
