Criswell counted on the public misconstruing her words to suggest that FEMA is overworked and overburdened already and their perceived inaction in current crises is (tacitly) therefore excusable. FEMA is NOT excused. They have failed so far. Let's see if they can redeem themselves....

I live in Fort Myers. A tornado just happened right down the street from me. A residents front door got sucked into their home and their roof got ripped off. Now the cats are missing. There’s so much wind and tornadoes. It hasn’t even made landfall yet. I started hearing ppl screaming outside. I hope everyone is okay and I’m praying for everyone’s safety. God be with us all.
I noticed she did not mention volunteers, like the ones saying they were being prevented from helping because Big Brother had to show who is in charge even though they suck.
The first responders were the locals and people from around the area, that came to help, the government is allways a day late and a dollar short, also they were busy sending $175 million overseas.

I guess what she is saying fema only provides assistance after the storm, not before, and for the safety of the 1200 personnel we wait 2-3 days after the storm is finished to set up rescue operations and of the 1200 personnel most are only trained to set up tables and chairs to take fema assistance applications. Given thier performance in Maui, and so far during helene am I wrong to think this way?
Twelve days and finally received a notice here in Burke County that we can now apply for fema relief. The thing is if you have homeowner's insurance fema ain't going to help. I finally got the last tree off my house today. It was a bigass oak tree which according to the rings was around 75 years old. It was about 30 inches around at the middle and about 75 feet tall. At least now the insurance adjuster can come out in about a week.
I’m so sorry for your suffering. I have family in those mountains. They are all safe. We only lost power at our home for about four days. My neighbor across the street finally paid to get the big pecan tree beside his house taken down after the storm. Next storm it would probably have gone thru his roof. The only reason it didn’t come down during helene is because the wind was blowing the opposite direction. I hope you are able to get your home fixed and start over. I can’t imagine.

I just hope it doesn't rain until I get the tarp on my roof tomorrow. The oak tree left 5 holes in my roof. We're going to be all right, but there's a lot who aren't. Pray for those people.

Really nice coverage on this commentator. She asked hard questions and was very gracious at the end. Unfortunately, the FEMA Director was pretty vague about her answers and it’s definitely questionable about what’s really going on.
None of our nursing homes have power still . 2 weeks now. No water. So sad. Help is needed in wnc. All our people are help with just daily staples, housing , money. Etc.... we have while families having to life in cars.
I am so sorry. I can’t be there physically but I have donated to Samaritans purse and the Cajun Navy. Some government employees need to go to prison for allowing this to get so bad. We’re thinking of you all. 🙏🙏🙏
