FEMA Section 106 Training and Forum 

This training has been organized as part of the MOA for DR-1995 VAOT. Session 4 is an overview of the Section 106 process from the perspective of the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) for Vermont. The SHPO stressed the importance to have an Area of Potential Effects (APE) that is large enough to encompass all direct and indirect potential effects; the need to communicate any changes in a scope of work so consultation can continue; the need for complete submittals and notification if something is not included but will be sent at a later date; and the need to utilize shared email inbox for the SHPO office when submitting a project for review to allow for timely review of the submittal.
