As far as "walking the walk", compare the contemporary situation in Buddhist societies, which are marked by good community life, cleanliness and wellbeing of their citizens with the corruption-ridden and miserable lives of the majority of Indian citizens. I was born Buddhist but growing up and moving to the states I grew up with Christianity. As I got older I felt something missing and with Christinaity I felt there was no development....as If I plateued. Christianity didn't provide an angle that provided me to be available. Open to other beliefs. As I got older more questions kept coming into my mind that was unanswered. I started to read about Buddhism and went back to my roots. It opened me up and set me free. I didn't realize how unfulfilling Christianity was until I became a Buddhist. As Christinaity points toward God, and Jesus but never pointed directly towards my one self. With Buddhism...going inward I felt so many things break down of all the old beliefs and new ones started to form. Once I got to understand myself the universe opened up for me and more sensitive to everything in a beautiful way. Buddhism can help many religions if they would just read about it. Many western scholars did write many books on Buddhism and zen...and I can see many western churches start being influenced by the western intellects who studied Buddhism and mysticism. Then spirituality started becoming popular here when Oprah started talking about the secret. It's a start but once you plant the seed of Buddhism....and develop ...you will always be misunderstood. Then .....you have found the Buddha in you.

I can relate to what you say. To me the new testimony is just a puzzle piece of buddistic and the church doesnt focus on the essential teachings. So in christian churches still stays this unfulfilment. Me personally understand the jesus story that every single human beeing is reincarnation of christ and by worshiping each other (as equal and unique at the same time) we worship god. Its a nice thing to believe. But its not really what people and the church interpret from the bible. but there are some people combining and recognising buddhistic philosophy. teachings in the christian philosophy. Yeah but the bible itself tells of the misunderstandings already...

I really agree with this. I was born in India in a Sikh family but i moved to Europe as a baby and grew up with christianity since i went in catholic schools. My parents were too busy making a living to reach me about my religion and in all actually, i considered myself as an atheist because i never understood what it was about. I was very depressed and because of the lack of knowledge about my roots, i didn't know where to go or what to do...I even felt hatred towards my culture because no one knew about Sikhism and i felt left out in every religious discussion since i knew nothing too. I had a negative view of religion because i saw how it devided people. (it was mostly muslims and christians debating and arguing) Until one of my friends ask me if i believed in life after death. I told her no, i don't believe in anything. Then, she asked " how can you have meaning in life?" And i had no answer but it was my begining point because she pointed out to God and i started searching and learning by myself. It's been 2 years now and it changed my life.

I would say it in simple words...Buddha is your mind and Buddhism means shining cleaning your thoughts....it's not a religion.....it's a self learning and experiencing path provided by a person Siddharth Gautama....other religions focus on hammering their thoughts and how we get benefited by obeying their practices and follow their god..... Buddhism is follow yourself to become Happy without any superstitions...

Robert okello That is your opinion, not a fact. You believe it is and you are free to do so, but telling other people what to think and using threats is not a morally acceptable thing to do. And Buddhists don’t worship any gods or idols: most just try to live with loving kindness, compassion and empathy, putting others needs before one’s own.

@fynes leigh okk.. The answer is really deep but in short Buddhism is not something one can just get by birth. To be a Buddhist one have to abide by 5 rules.. They are in short no murder or killing,no stealing,no to lust,no lies and no addiction. If one follow this rule in his/her everyday life only then he can say,yes i am a Buddhist. And in Buddhism there’s no god, only find the inner knowledge so that you can enlighten yourself.

All the Buddhists that I’ve encountered speaks of loving kindness similarly and consistently. This is what I love about Buddhism and why I can relate to it more and more. The teachings are the same across the board. Christianity in itself promotes similar teachings but in the modern sense, it’s denominations have deviated so far, one can wonder if it’s really following the core teachings of Christianity as it was originally established. I’ve been visited by a woman knocking door to door six years ago and she’s apparently the wife of some minister for some “church”. When I turned her down, she started an aggressive tirade against Islam, Judaism and Buddhism, on how these religions are threatening Christianity. It was an appalling experience. But that just proves my point. Even though I’m Catholic, I’m very wary of when people who claim to be Christians speaks ill of other religions. In fact, it turns me off.

My biggest inspiration @drukmo I started my Tibetan mantra healing sound journey by listening to her beautiful peaceful music, I can listen to her all day long. Thank you for your encouragement, sending positive and healing energy to all of us ❤❤

What a wonderful message delivered so well! Thank you. There were times when i smiled with you as you became animated........ wondering if your hands were confined somehow if you could still speak. That is said kindly with a great deal of gratitude for what you have done.

Teaching from one of most revered Monk; the late Ajahn Chah. " I practiced Dhamma without knowing a great deal. I just knew all the path to liberation begin with virtue (Sila). Virtue is the beautiful beginning of the Path. The deep peace or Samadhi is the beautiful middle. Wisdom (Panna) is the beautiful end. Although they can be separated as three unique aspects of the training; as we look into them more and more deeply, these three qualities converge as ONE. To uphold virtue, you have to be wise".
