It's very unusuall to hear those crazy low notes from women, thanks a lot for doing this) P.S Mariah went down to slightly F2 in the last clip, it was almost pure air but it's still there
Yep; a lot of people don’t realize when they talk about range, it’s from how low to how high one can sing; people hear range and only think high notes. Some of those 5 octaves that Mariah has include very low notes.
20 y.o. male here, I'm not sure about my vocal classification since my voice could still deepen (talking about puberty, not aging), but I tend to think that I'm a low tenor. Anyways, if I'm super relaxed in the morning, I can sing a non-breathy F#2 or even F2. Now it's almost midnight, and I can barely hit a G2, which lacks resonance, is breathy, and I pushed my larynx a bit down to get the note.
Y’all she said that naturally she’s an alto that had a great upper belting range. Voice classification isn’t determined by the notes you can hit it’s determined by where your tessitura sits. She is a light-coloratura soprano. She’s just more limited now because of her nodules that won’t allow her to go as high as she wants (belting wise) however she can still go up to E5/F5.
My only regret with this video is that I couldn't include Annie Lennox, Grace Jones because they're both contralto and I couldn't find any notes for them. Also Nina Hagen should have appeared more in this kind of video, I'm just too unfamiliar with her 😶
The fact that Mariah can hit a very audible F#2 and also can hit a Bb7 whistle at the same time and she even did F#8 acapella in her dolphin video 2019 and her highest belt was A5. 👑👑👑👑👑👑👑
Thank you for including the NINA SIMONE!! I enjoy her so much and I’ve been trying to hit her low note in “Black is the Color of My True Loves Hair” for awhile 😭💜
I wish people cheered as much for low notes than high notes. For a long time I thought my register was pure shit I just tried to sing too high for my voice 🤷🏽♀️
Lalah is just amazing! The texture of her voice is just like velvet. Love how Aretha get's to her notes. She does this beautiful slide into her lower register. Aretha creates beautiful art in her lower register.
Sajju Art of everything I sing very much so lower than them and it’s very comfortable I damn near sound like a baritone man and I’m low key offended by these attempts
I finally decided to test my comfortable range today, because I have a pretty deep voice, as far as women go. I found that I can create a pretty solid B2, with zero training. So, I searched youtube to see what kinds of nice sounds can be created by the masters, in a similar tone, and now I'm considering actually getting some lessons. Because if I can do a B2 with no training, imagine what my voice could be with some proper training! That's a pretty exciting possibility for me, I think.

Now it's almost midnight, and I can barely hit a G2, which lacks resonance, is breathy, and I pushed my larynx a bit down to get the note. For me, vocal lessons didn't really help me unlock more lower notes; during class we stayed in chest voice, no vocal fry or whatsoever added (though I know singers can utilise a well-developed vocal fry further down; that could prolly add another octave below my chest voice). Though my chest voice has been strengthened by a lot thanks to the lessons. We have yet to develop my belting / mixed voice, since I'm still an amateur. The journey is indeed long...
omg i love this! you probably have the most well made/nicest videos on this site lmfao, up there with slaychelle. i just wish you started a little higher, though, since a lot of these women are lowering their larynxes like all hell here lmfao
+daydream thank you so much honey 😘 Yeah, most of them had lowered larynx here. I'm thinking of making part 2 for higher notes too, but it might take forever because anyone can sing those note 😂
@@QanhMusicz Please, make a part 2! Also yes, obviously they have to lower their larynx, the second Octave is pretty extreme for Mezzos, especially for Sopranos. Contraltos are uncomfortable in the second Octave too, so that's why. I've never heard a female support in the 2nd Octave.
@@chrispychip12 I think she is an alto that was just blessed with a great upper register tone. The highest she has belted live was like g#5 meanwhile ariana and demi lovato can belt up to like a5 and Bb5 with worse techniques.
@@thunderstorm__8147 you do realise that alto and contralto are different, right? i never said mariah was a contralto, nor did i even say she was an alto...
Great video dear!!!! I love how you edit your videos! I must say...I was so impressed with my fav lol just hearing her compete and beat most of these heavier, lower voices is impressive. Aretha's lower register slays, rachelle Farrell, lalah and Lisa killed it too...those are my top 5 from this video
I hope I get to sing as low as B2 some day. My lowest note currently is Eb3. And I love singing lower than getting into my falsetto by the time I hit E5.
You do know that Nina Hagen has sung down to a raspy A1 before, yes? Look up her vocal range and click a vid titled The Remarkable Versatility And Vocal Range Of Nina Hagen. She can sing down to D2 with ease and occasionally goes lower.
@@beymariah2188 She can hit D2 in chest voice, it just sounds very airy. That's due to her heavy smoking, not because she is some kind of deep Contralto. You can hear how her tone is feminine/womanly sometimes.
Why did you stop at Mariah?? Nina Hagen should be the one to close this video. She can go much lower than all of the others shown here. D2 is no Problem for her. She even can hit notes like B1
He stopped at Mariah Because of Nina Hagen can't reach the note that's lower than G#2, so she uses vocal fry on those notes and he doesn't count vocal fries so it only leads to Mariah ending the video. Hope you undunderstand :)
Lalah is another one comfortable with her voice I love it , I’m still trying to get comfortable with being a alto and it’s hard because people don’t support altos like they do sapranos.
See this is why *low notes* don't get as much love it's because a lot of people compare low notes to *Broadway* and when someone inputs it into their *craft* it's almost dismissed because everyone focuses on *high notes* F high notes
+Goosebumps On hmm, her lowest note i know is only C3 from the vocal range video. I only included 2nd octave note for this video. But if you know any, it'd be great 😀
I'm sorry this list is bs. How do you not have Jessica Reedy, India Arie, Blanche Macallister, Twinkie Clark, Chanelle Hayes and Lauryn Hill on here? They sing lower than any of these girls
It's called "Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair"! Here's the link to the performance: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8bvtaqkz_js.html
