Celine has the best vocal training technique, hands down. I'm an opera singer and what she's doing with her "raspberries" is fantastic, she's engaging her diaphragm with controlled airflow which is the point of this exercise. Most importantly, she's practicing control and even air flow when she is singing both soft, loud, and crescendo. (Singing softly, yet clearly with power behind it - without sounding "breathy" - is the most difficult thing for a singer to do, especially on the high notes!)

She means it when she says her voice will go on and on. She’s the only person to really take care of her voice. It’s definitely not what it was 20 years. But she had managed to preserve a large amount of it

About Celine Dion singing with the laughing in the background. It was a special Celine Quebec Tv Show. Celine said the best raisonnance is in a bathroom. So they brought the crew in the bathroom of the studios. The laughing is actually the interviewer, Julie Snyder, one of Celine and René's best friends who has a Tv channel in Montreal.

celine was laughing because she likes to warm up in bathrooms coz of the acoustics and someone recorded her without her knowing and she was reacting to it on a tv show.

Madonna rules! she has great vocal training and you can tell when you hear her sing live. she took serious vocal lessons when filming the opera Evita and it really improved her singing and raised the level of her game.

It's her stage presence. It's her dancing. It's her creativity It's her artistry. It's her versatility. It's her looks. It's her intelligence. It's her marketing ability. It's her sense of style. It's her ability to get people to help her in her musical endeavors. She's the total package. The songs and videos that she released have been constantly well-made. She gives great performances in concerts. I was an 80s teenager. I enjoyed all her 80s songs,videos. I can't say that for any other song artist.

Madonna never was a great singer and certainly isn't now. She's damn great pop performer. Was. Maybe isn't anymore so much. But she never was a great vocalist. She worked hard to put a quite food voice into the best shape possible, yes. And I respect her a lot. She was leading the business for decades. And she's not a bad singer. She was good. But a great singer is better than good.

Christina trains her chest voice and her falsetto seperately, like the old opera singers did. Falsetto (the hooty quality on an ee or an ooh associated with the CT muscles) to develop the vocal fold stretch and fluidity of the voice, and chest voice (the 'squillant', speechy quality associated with the TA muscles)to develop good vocal fold closure, as well as core and power right into the higher end.

I really like this video becuase she highlights yet another vocal coach stoney. It shows the care a vocal coach has when they study and take things from other coaches. Not critisesing other methods but learning from them becuase we all just want to get better and there's so many teachers and places to do so we should take advantage of that. Hey there, you are amazing at what you do! Ive always enjoyed singing. I used to want to sing solos in church until I forgot the words while singing. I can sing with others and sometimes by myself.. but I get stage fright because I feel like I’m going to forget the words. I would like to acquire more confidence in my voice. You could do a series of videos of vocal change on some artists. I’m a big fan of Avril Lavigne and I have noticed how her voice changed and evolved throughout her career. Especially from 2005 on. I think she had some kind of voice coaching because her voice became a lot more powerful and had better control. Love your videos BTW

Me teacher has me do very generic, simple warm ups. I hate them. Sometimes I warm up at home beforehand. Thank you for pointing out that warm up exercises should be more specific for the particular singer.

03/19/19 - Loved this. One of the biggest regrets of my life is that when my parents offered me a choice between ballet lessons and singing lessons (50+ years ago, lol), I chose ballet. Stupid; I was never going to be a ballet dancer.! Anyway, I always enjoy listening to your critiques, even if I don’t completely understand what it is you’re saying. I wonder if you’ve ever listened to Sam Tsui/Casey Breves, in particular their mashup of “Thinking Out Loud/I’m Not The Only One.” It’s one of my favorites of theirs, mostly because I love Casey’s singing in it. (TBH, Sam’s voice gets on my nerves a bit.) Anyway, something to add to what I’m sure is an extensive list of “Would you please listen to...”, maybe? Love from Florida.

These exercise clips can also show how much they got from these trainings. Lara Fabian one, for instance, was just excellent: great placements, correct vowels, great pitch and support. Selena’s and Taylor’s tho... let’s just say they both need to work so much more on breath support and placement, and especially, lift them soft palate up! Cuz even in these exercises they sound like they yell from their throat placement, and the sounds just come out dragging and throaty

Answering her question, @5:03 I've always thought this exercise was intended to teach the student to not go flat nearer the higher notes. I'd always found it forced me to control my pitch, when skipping (albeit predictably) around. Because the higher pitch is, in theory, among the more effort-requiring, it may force one to fight that (possibly subconscious) 'dragging down' of pitch with increased effort. You should never 'strain' so its also forcing you switch which muscles are being activated. (Typically lower muscles for higher notes, I was taught - I was lain on the floor to prove it to me at one point.) Never asked the teacher specifically why I was asked to do that particular exercise, though. I do imagine it forces you to have a physical sort of recall - that you hit the coinciding pitches in relation to their scale, more readily - so again, back to activating the proper muscles in your abdomen (and not your neck) in proper relation to the note being sung. [Edit: @9:52 This is a comparable but more convoluted version of the same concept, with more connections. The prior is far more simple, with more distinct separations between the tones where I was taught (which required a bit more control in those activated muscles.) But I'm not a teacher so feel free to correct me.

Christina does vocal exercises with falsetto sometimes because she uses falsetto a lot in songs and she needs to access to it easily on stage

Although not listed on this episode ... there are few instances where we see Cyndi Lauper's technique; she uses hot tea / steamers ... when she was on the Apprentice and on an episode of her reality show a couple of years back she uses a technique where she holds her tongue and does some high pitched noises/notes?? She has been training with Katie Agresta throughout her professional career and I guess there are some exercises that she does to loosen her body up as well. Oh...and she uses a balloon to exercise her lungs. Her technique just seems off the normality path of these other singers...but then again, that's why she's Cyndi Lauper. :)

Anyways, I think Taylor was mostly trying to warm up/push the edges of her vocal ranges, rather than trying to sound good. Also not taking it super seriously since she seemed more focused on signing cards for idk who (maybe radio DJs?).
