Ladies, I wish you all knew how much I loved Diahann Carroll! As I mentioned she took a stand to become the FIRST black actress to not take a role for roles that stereotype black women/ people. She lived a very luxurious lifestyle on her own terms. That is what life is about and I hope you all take notes and read about all of her accomplishments she had to offer before she left us with her legacy 🕊

Diahann Carroll emitted a strength and elegance worthy of emulation. I first knew her voice as Queen La from Disney's The Legend of Tarzan. Because of her commanding vocal presence and how much sultriness she emitted as this tyrannical yet sexy Oparian sovereign who ruled the Leopardmen with an iron fist, Queen La became the breakthrough character of the Disney Tarzan franchise, especially evidenced in the huge amount of fan art and fan fiction dedicated to her. Coming from someone who enjoyed Disney's The Legend of Tarzan as a child, I was really happy to know that there were a lot of other great Black actors and actresses on this animated show, such as Keith David, Phil Lamarr, Kevin Michael Richardson, James Avery, Brock Peters, Clarence Lewis III, and Dawnn Lewis, emitting such wonderfully memorable performances. At the end of the day, it seems like a lot of us who tuned in to Disney's The Legend of Tarzan would always remember Diahann Carroll as Queen La.

Ms Carroll may have been feminine in the best sense of the word, but she was no vapid fool. Elegant to the point of regality. Gorgeous to stop the heart, both physically and emotionally. She carried herself with class, grace, and elegance.

Diahann Carroll and Sidney Poitier were reportedly lovers when he was married to his first wife but they were never married. Diahann did marry the Editor of Jet magazine and they lived in a penthouse in Oakland.
