I just finished it! (literally 5 minutes ago) and it is so so so good! It's honestly so hard to describe how good it is. People kept telling me I needed to read it, so the hype was real but it honest to god deserves all the praise it is getting. It's definitely going to take me a few days to wrap my head around the story and formulate my thoughts before I can film a review, but I definitely recommend!

hey Emma, i usually dont comment in any videos that i see on youtube, but, this is one of my favourite videos on ur channel, and i have seen this video again and again and tried to get my hands on all the books that you have mentioned in this video, I HAVE READ MOXIE :-) (please include me too in the Moxie Fan Club :-) ) and like you, i have to read it maybe two or three times to absorb it all in :-) im not a booktuber but you are my FAVORITE booktuber.... you are me in an alternate universe :-) (if that makes sense :-) ) i very much relate to your personal struggles which you have talked about on ur channel, and i really want to hug you for being so brave and really so much badass... :-) you go girl , im ALWAYS rooting for you :-) i just recently read a badass book Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone and really loved it... maybe you will like it too... will see you & talk to you in your next video , keep making such amazing content and i love you :-) RESPECT :-)

The audiobook of The Poet X is so amazing! It's my first feminist read, and a great one in that. I cannot believe how much I related to X. There are just so many societies and religious groups which are still patriarchal in the essence. In a way, this book unites young women around the world. P. S:I've always loved the books you recommended💜💜💜

A teen activist and feminist book I think you'd be allll over is The Birds, the Bees, and You and Me by Olivia Hinebaugh. It's about a girl who doles out sex advice in the bathroom at school when she herself is a virgin, while also training to be a doula. It's all about how their school's health and sex ed curriculum is abstinence only and very heteronormative, and it contains some amazing bits of wisdom that I've been trying to implement into my own life. It's very inclusive and a quick read with a lot of fun times and consent!

I found The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo a bit repetitive as I read it but I don’t regret doing so. As someone who really admires 40’s/50’s Hollywood films it also opened my eyes ***slight spoiler*** to how oppressed men and women in the LGBT+ community were back then but more so the struggle they went through to keep silent. As well as how women were severely objectified and pressured to become unrealistic molds for media and the big screen.

I also recommend The Friday Society. It’s a feminist, steampunk mystery novel that follows three female assistants. A magicians assistant, a sort of scientist assistant, and a sort of samurai assistant. It’s set in the UK in like 1800s or smth and it reads easy. One of my faves. Ps. I think you should definitely read The Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Stevens. The sequel just came out. My favorite feminist novel is The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks by E Lockhart. It’s my favorite E Lockhart book and is just so empowering and handles a complicated character of a teenage girl who wants to be respected and independent but also wants to date the popular guy. It’s best to go in not knowing much but the book is super funny and is in general about a girl who wants to join an all male secret society at her school. It’s highly underrated but such a great feminist book!
