Once the police knocked on my door saying they got a compliant from a neigbour that I hit my wife, which I did not. Long story short the police later noticed that they got the wrong house number. Before that they took my details since I could not convince them that I did not hit my wife even though my wife confirmed that nothing happened. Later on I told the story to female colleagues in the office and they were shocked that the police did not take immediate measures (before noticing later that it was a mistake), since there is always the possibility of a man lying. I was quite surprised that it was seemingly okay for them if the police had taken me into custody without any evidence or indication of violence just on the off-chance that I and my wife might be lying.
