Dad bought a 706 Farmall that runs on the cheap. I have the parts to fix what’s wrong. thomasfarmstn@gmail.com Russ Thomas 33 Russell Thomas Rd Leoma, TN 38468
Hello Russ looks great nice find. Could see the tire leak around the valve. There was a factory close to me in Hamilton and Brantford Ontario. Have a great day.
Dad bought a new 706 in 63, it still lives on the farm, great tractor, it doesn't have the German engine, we has the engine rebuilt at 7200 hours, since the rebuild I only use it to run the grinder mixer and I use it to shuttle silage wagons to the blower when I fill silo, I'm glad to see you're going to do a restoration on yours, God bless
I bought a rough 706 gas last winter. The sheet metal is good but the rest of the tractor was shot. My grandfather had a gas 706 with a single front wheel before my time. It was made into a wide and the single wheel front is still here. My plans was to put the single wheel on and find a 5.9 Cummins or a DT 360 and make a conversation piece. But this tractor came along and through RU-vid I have found others that’s into old Farmalls. So I think might be able to help others with some Parts off the gasser. I can use some of the sheet metal on the 656. So long story something told me to buy that gasser last year:
On a working farm, tractors are expensive tools. I regret the neglect that sometimes happens to them but wont be critical of anyone for circumstances beyond control. It sure is nice to see them in the hands of people who have the means to keep them in shape versus running them to death and parking them somewhere. Whether a working tractor or a showpiece, a machine deserves to be kept in good shape. I like them all but I'm especially fond of restored machines that still earn their keep on a farm. Either way,, old iron represents our American heritage and is something anyone would be proud to own.
@@Thomasfarmstn Yes, I remember that, cold start, but it’s got some great power. Drove this baby allot when I was young on the farm. My mom and dad are gone now. Fun times, but didn’t know it at the time. Thanks 🙏
Good afternoon Mr Russ ! Man that’s a good find there I had a 806 they are some good tractors Can’t wait to see her restored Hope y’all have a great weekend Brother! God bless
I’m doing pretty good I’m back at work I changed jobs staying at home now Helping run the shop in meridian Mississippi, still working with the same company though I’m just not traveling anymore because of my health problems I appreciate you asking about me Hope y’all are doing well
I noticed you have 16.9x38's on yours that is what is on my 64 with the 282 and it is gutless so I'm swapping them out for 18.4x34's. The part that hurts the most is the 16.9's are like brand new
That 310 Neuss is a fine engine,I just picked up a 1466 for lawnmower money, but it's got several issues I'm gonna have to sort out.I was raised on IH working for my uncles and I love the old IHC product.
Russ that 706 is going to look great when get it done and you have a part tractor to fixed it up and another thing you're saving money on buying parts to fix it with and that's a good thing saving money me and my grandfather painted his farmall H and it did look good after it was all and we also painted the front and back wheels and it looked like a new tractor but looked good 👍 👍👍
Man yeah Russ!! Dad found a diamond in the rough there I think!! Awesome!! Cant wait to see more on this one!! Pretty cool it's gonna be both, and you have some good parts to donate!! I myself would have a whole lineup of IH but man they are expensive, unless you really find a good deal!! I find good deals just never on good IH stuff 🤦🤦 Yes this winter you need to fix the 656 and get it out in the show lineup as well!! Awesome find my friend, looking fwd to seeing more for sure! My apologies for being late!! 😁😁👍👍🤦🤦
Looks like a nice find there Russ. Sounds like a pretty good idea to get what this 706 diesel needs off of the other one. 👍🏻 My dad has a 706 gas sitting in his garage that I'll have to get moved to my house someday. Looking forward to seeing your dad out in the field with his 706 soon. 😁 Yep, you need to get back to work on the 656 & get it back out in the field. 😁 Take care.
No it does not but that would be nice to have. There is a 766 that comes to our local tractor show. It has a turbo hanging out the side. But it’s not the German diesel and the turbo came off an IH truck engine.
Yes I did that a 730 deere it looks as it 25 years grind the rust off and rap in tape it will bleed though like paint will do we do all the ones when we change tires hope that helps you will not bleed though
