Nice comparision! I just got the Bugera a couple of days ago and it is one of the best sounding hybrid tube amps I've ever played through in my 45+ years of playing. Very Creamy tone, even at low vol. Nails the Clapton early Led Zeppelin sound and the headphone out works great for recording!!
Wow, I enjoyed your playing in this demo and your comments. I lived in Germany from 1979 until 1991. I do not get to hear too many reviews in German so it was nice. I have to say I liked your sound on the Bugera BC15 for vintage 1960-1970's vintage tube sound on a hybrid amp!!! The Orange AD5 sounded great as well but not as vintage. The clean sound on the Bugera sounded warm, lots of color but not at all muddy. The distortion had the right sound too. The Orange AD5 was more powerful but 1980's.
For CLEANS its hard to beat a BUGERA. I had a used V22 Combo that I liked so much I sold it and bought a new V22 Infinium head played through a custom 212 cab. NICE !! Gains are good too, not great but definitely "good".
I do not think you could go wrong with either the Orange AD5 or the Bugera BC15 in this case just depends on which sound you like best both sounded great! Obviously the guy playing the guitar had a hand in that.
@levinjapan I agree with you totally. I guess those who seek a clean sound for rock n roll are trying emulate those early rock n rollers of the 1950's who mostly played a clean sound for rock n roll. As for the amps I have decided to get the Orange AD 5 because I found a dealer in California who is selling them at reduced price, plus I am not impressed with the Traynor YCV 20. I found most of the Traynor amps are a little to muddy sounding for my tastes.
thanks for that reply. I was looking for something like that, for "creamy" sound exactly, seems this amp is very good for getting such sound at low price. Hoping to get one very soon ;)
I have a fender champion 600 and I did the mercury magnetic transformers kit you can purchase, which also changes out certain circuits on the board and I put a Weber Al Nico speaker in it because that no longer comes with the kit but the amp at this point is now amazing I do believe you can still buy those kits….steve p
Also, with defender champion, you really need to replace that thick mudflap covering the speaker find yourself a nice thinner liner that really opens up the sound and cleans it up
I liked the Orange the best. I have owned the Fender a couple of times( I just recently sold this past week) and while it does a good job at clean sounds it does not have enough punch for me. I am thinking about getting either an Orange AD-5 or a Traynor YCV20, it just depends on how mucn money I have, I am leaning more towards the Orange
@eyeofset: Get the AD5 and you can't go wrong!!! I got mine for almost 3 years and will NEVER sell it!! Why does one need clean sound for rock'n'roll? hehe
Hey, guys. I'm looking for a nice small inexpensive tube amp with a decent tone. I have a Fender Strat with George Lynch pickups. I acquired a Line6 Firehawk pedal. All I'm running through is my studio monitors. What do you guys think?
*@ Matthew Short* `````````````````````````````` If you ask me..., I don't give a shit. If you can't decide what sound you like, get yourself an acoustic ukulele or seek professional help of a good shrink... Lol... (BTW... George Lynch wouldn't ask such a dumb question)
I don’t think that’s correct I’m pretty sure that Bugas is a hybrid amp but it’s always best to check your own and take somebody’s word for it. That’s why we have the Internet.
