Always wanted a Mark Hoppus signature but thought I could never get one due to high secondary mark up. I didn’t even know these were coming out and the second I found out I straight up ordered one and I love it.
I really like the Dunlop strap locks. Ive used them on all my guitars/basses to date. I hated changing out the screws in my MH signature (I have the HMNIM hot pink) but its just a habit to have them. I know you mentioned the fret board on those, and its my first instrument ive owned with that type and I actually dont mind it. Great review! Not sure ill pick one of these up, but I do have plans to convert my Squier Jag to something simlar.
best decision you can make in the world of strap locks is DiMarzio ClipLok straps, you could probably tow a car with those things, theyre not the best looking with the strap detatched, but at the same time if you fit all your basses with them on a rack stand, makes for a pretty cool look
Thanks for the review! I can't justify another bass, but there's nothing I don't love about that bass. It would be cool to hear you play +44 - Lycanthrope on it.
Sounds/looks great, and great run through man, as always! Side note regarding those strap locks if it helps anyone, the original maker of those type, schaller, a few years back updated the design and it's no longer a regular nut that works loose, they're a grub screw locking design now named the S-Lock and are a lot more stable for sure. The copy ones on the market are still just the regular ol' nut but schaller at least have improved things (finally!) in that regard. Very odd for an instrument to come with the strap lock buttons, but not include the strap locks, a weird feature! (edit - that's a comment to instruments/brands in general that do this, not specifically this one model. I know I've had Fenders in the past that had locking buttons and no locks included and that was best part of 20 years ago. Like you point out, would somewhat be better to have regular buttons or use what you want rather than need to get a specific set that you perhaps might not normally use or like and want to change or buy specific locks for. Again, not specifically pointing at this model, it's been happening for years for sure)
those Seymour Duncan SPB-3s absolutely rip, which makes a lot of the tone you can hear, but id say a preamp pedal such as a SansAmp etc. into a DI, but yeah a lot of that sound is in the SD pickups and a new set of EB Super Slinkys played with a pick.
@@WilliamChapman28 It is pretty driven of a tone though. Running into a preamp pedal if not a full amp sim. Certainly wouldn't sound like that plugged directly into an interface.
Nice bass, i have a black Fender Jaguar bass with the D & G pickup on other side ,neck side, you call it inverted but it is just the D & G half of pickup moved to the neck side not the E & A half, mine has a Jazz bridge pickup ,black headstock & Ebony fretboard, my 1 bass does all, overhauled & rewired, new best of everthing, Epic Custom 1/4" polepiece PJ pickups, pickguard...i like the colour of your Jag & headstock, good tone.....
@@littleredguitars2 ....the D & G half are only moved... the original place for the E & A Jaguar P pickup...which should make it 2 1/2" from edge of D & G pickup to end of fretboard... Look at a pic of a standard Jag P pickup...E & A half in exact same place bud i promise you, look up a Jag pic bud..i modded mine & exact same...i only moved the D & G half...Mark Hoppus thinks the same but i have an old Mark Hoppus Jazz with the same measurements as my modded Jaguar bud...the Seafoam Green model from many years ago....
I’ve got several American basses from fender and musicman, and honestly at the price point it is perfect because it plays so cleanly. Curious, out of all the mark basses, would you say this is favorite ?
Am I the only one who doesn´t like Mark's jaguar basses? I think Mark had the best bass ever, jazz bass without inverted pickups. The 2001 jazz bass with plate control and p bass neck was the most beautiful thing ever. This new basses with inverted pickups look ugly to me, like if they had down syndrome. I would never purchase one of his jaguar basses.
