I have the Squire version for $150. I have tried to replace it for my gig guitar and cannot do it. The comfort and the ease of control on stage is as good as it gets.

Really dig that laid back jam of yours. Your tone and style of playing here reminds me of the song: Pink Cashmere by Prince.

Cheers for the video! Would love to see how the short scale feels. Sweet jam too. I'm gonna try this with my looper

what a nice guitar, the range it has is very cool. do you happen to have a wiring diagram for the Phat Cats? I've been looking forward to getting a pair of those for my Squier Jazzmaster Contemporary but I can't seem to find one for 1VOL-1TON-3WaySwitch, and the Seymour Duncan page doesn't help that much either.

Hey Pablo - I don't have a wiring diagram but any diagram showing 1 volume & 1 tone and a 3-way switch will do the trick. Kinda like a Telecaster.

How close would you say the Phat Cats are to real P90s? Working on a Strat build and trying to decide between these and a real P90s.
@BillDutton
@BillDutton 4 года назад
Wow...great question. They're kinda their own thing. I have a Friedman Vintage T P90 and had a Reverend Charger 290 and all three guitars sound a little different. I'd say these lean a bit more mid-rangy than a regular P90 (but then again I have them in a short scale guitar too if that matters). I dig the sound and they sit good in a mix plus they're different from my Friedman. I don't know if that helps...lol. They are good sounding pickups.

Bill Dutton Thanks! I’m also looking at a set of Lollar P90s. So many good options out there lol.

Hi Bill, Is posible to put on this guitar a Seymour Duncan Jb in the bridge an make the wired job to have the coil split function?
@BillDutton
@BillDutton 4 года назад
Yes it is although you will have to rout out a bit of wood to do it. Sounds like a great project!

@@BillDutton hi, in order to put the phat cat 90 like your Mustang, did you have to do some kind of modifications? Greetings
@BillDutton
@BillDutton 4 года назад
Yes - you will have to remove a bit of the wood to make the pick up fit. I also had a pick guard made to fit the new pickups.

The original pickups can but not as much what it feels like it should to be a small sized fender. It feels like a mustang but sounds much thicker. It definetly can get surf rocky and chimey for sure but you're probably gonna have adjust the EQ. I cant say much for the phat cat pickups he got but I can vouche for 9200DD that was mentioned. I got an old lawsuit telecaster that needed a full electronic overhaul so I just let them wire up a pickguard and it worked great and only costed me around 200 for a new 3 ply guard, full wiring jack and control plates and real Seymour Duncan pickup (quarterpound. Really hot). It really can't be beat. I priced it all out to get most everything separately and it was more expensive to get everything piece by piece from wherever I could get it... except maybe guitarfetish stuff which isn't bad stuff. Its just def not name brand and some things are little cheap but thats kinda the idea.

I have this Mustang guitar. Why did you changed the originals p90 for these new ones?
@BillDutton
@BillDutton 4 года назад
Great question! I originally bought this guitar with the idea to swap out the stock pickups and put in the Seymour Duncan Phat Cat 90 set. I shopped around and found this guitar used at a good price. This guitar was a fun modification project and I still enjoy playing it.

@@BillDutton So it was a kind of experience haha It's a great guitar, isn't? I bought it in 2018 and i didn't have the courage to make any change. Even in 2018 my brother gave to me the Squier Mustang Bullet (i love Mustangs haha) an i put the Seymour Duncan JB SH4 in the bridge, but i didn't like it. I will send to some luhtier inspect.
