Come suono preferisco l'American vintage, ma sono più che sicuro che il feeling dell'original è insuperabile, in ogni caso entrambi gli strumenti sono eccezionali.
I tried an AVII last week. I can't stop thinking about it. Specially the tone closed is magical. The other option was getting an Original, but your review helped me to choose the Vintage ii. What's. your personal favourite by the way? And what about the neck? I found the AVII a bit too slim to be a P bass, but it felt very good anyway.
The neck is the only difference beyond the pickup. I confirm it’s thinner but it has vintage radius 7,25 Avri2 nut 43mm radius 7,25 Ao60 nut 44,5mm radius 9,5
One significant difference I hear is that the Am 60 orig is always about 10% louder in db which makes it kind of hard to compare. I understand the difference in wounding on these pickups but that also means to get a tru comparison you need to adjust the volume level or the Am vintage ii will always sound weaker.
@@mikev.1641 Seems like a lot of people misinterpret volume for tone. One has nothing to do with the other. It’s very easy to adjust volume level in many ways today so, to me, what’s interesting is the type and quality of sound at an equal db level. Then, of course, if you’d like to have higher output for practical reasons that’s another matter but it has nothing to do with sound quality. My impression a lot of times is that overwound pickups gives you more dark, less open sound, but on the other hand a bump in the low midrange and high bass frequencies. If you match the output level of two different pickups you will hear the true sound. But that’s of course my personal experience and there will be as many opinions on this as there are bass players :)
If the volume were adjusted for the video, then you wouldn’t have any concept of how loud/hot the pickups are in relation to one another. Which is absolutely a part of the instruments character worth representing in a shoot-out.
@@nomoredeathstars445 Volume is something you easily can adjust but sound-character is something else. I stand by my opinion that the best comparison between pickups is at similar output level.
@@MikaelBerglundBass I totally get your perspective-yes volume is adjustable. But natural output is also a part of a pickups character, and it’s something people want to know about, especially when it comes to p-basses it seems. If the AO is naturally louder than the AV, then that’s something I want to know, as it’s going to affect how the instrument interacts with a tube amp.
The best production neck Fender makes is the Vintera 50s Precision Bass neck in my opinion. It is a maple fretboard but is the only p bass neck in production(Not Custom Shop) with a 1.75 inch nut width, maybe I lucked out on the one I got but it is the best $1100 dollars I have ever spent.
In my experience, sitting down 7.25 is more comfortable. But standing, the lower your strap, the flatter radius starts to feel better and easier to play.
Stesse nostre impressioni. Ao molto più aggressivo in mid freq, avri più gentile e equilibrato. ma complimenti a mamma Fender, proprio quello che ci si aspetta come differenze tra precision 60 e 63
wow... night and day. Light-blue P for me all day. I might refuse the darker if someone gave it to me for free... (I have enough mod platforms, thank you!). Ok, fine, I can sell and use the two-figure $$...
