So this is my first guitar of 2024. I told everybody I was done buying guitars after I bought 10 in 2023, however, when I was surfing around the net (wow that dates me doesn’t it!) I came across this model of a starcaster in the Musicians Friend website. It is offered in Sunburst or natural finish. When doing some research all I could find from original 1976 was the natural finish which I thought I might purchase. But I’ve always wanted a Sunburst guitar so I ended up getting that and I sure am glad I did. I did other research while surfing the net again and found a tobacco burst, Original 1976 as well as a Sunburst. These modern guitars are in my opinion replicas of the original with a few exceptions. For instance, this one does not have a master volume control. Therefore there’s only four knobs instead of five. This also has a bridge and saddle where strings are mounted to, but the original had one bridge/saddle mechanism, and the strings come through the back of the guitar up through the saddle. The pick ups look identical as far as a visual is concerned, but I’m quite sure they have different electronics. However, they still sound great, and are extremely powerful. other than that, I can’t find much difference in this particular model. This is one of my longer videos and I do apologize upfront for that but I am very excited about this particular guitar and wanted to show it off a little bit. So sit back and enjoy the ride and I always appreciate you stopping in.

I have the same model and color. It needed a setup desperately but once I got it straightened out it was awesome. Love the Neck, nice and slim. Sounds great and when you get in front of a loud amp it will start roar and just on the edge of feedback with a little control you can use the feed back very nicely. You can really feel it in your hands. Love mine. Enjoy!

Appreciate you watching and commenting!! I’m loving it so far. I’ve not had to do much on this one. I was surprised how much was done in manufacturing on this one. 👊🏼🍻

It’s beautiful! Do you know I grew up in the same town Leo Fender lived? We have a small local museum that has a permanent display of his inventions and guitars. I bet a lot of guitar lovers will love this unboxing. Nice to hear it!

That is indeed a sharp looking guitar. Wow! Completely different, but when I see that style I'm immediately reminded of the late Geordie Walker of Killing Joke. Just passed away in Nov. 2023. He played a hollow bodied 1952 Gibson. Anyway. Good reason to be excited man. Nice playing. Sounds really good. Thanks for sharing. Cheers bud! 🍻✌️🤘🎸🤘

Hey Mark. So glad you stopped in. I’m all over the place with my channel but maybe eventually I’ll settle down a bit. I have to many hobbies and not enough time for any of it. 😂 This guitar definitely reminds me of the Gibson ES 335. I’m sure no comparison but I paid under $400 for this and I’m perfectly happy not spending the extra $3000 for a Gibson. I’m going to look up Geordie Walker!! I love it. Every time we connect you tell of someone or some band I’ve never heard of. Awesome comment! 👊🏼🤘🏼🍻🎸

Thank you kindly! I’m always surprised when I get a lesser expensive guitar at the good quality that Indonesia is putting out. Don’t get me wrong. I’d rather have a USAA one, but the funds aren’t always there for that.

I Have one in walnut finish. I use it in my studio, and it is very reliable. the volume and tone pots aren't very good. luckily it has a good natural sound which responds well to effects.

Hey Frank I’m so glad you commented here and I’m glad you have found success with your Starcaster. I agree that the tone pots aren’t that great as I was playing through the guitar this evening and noticed the same thing. I’m looking forward to getting back to my house at the end of the week and trying out some various effects with mine. I’m still very impressed by the quality of the guitar I purchased for the price and it is becoming one of my favorites that I own. Thanks again for checking this out. 👊🏼🍻

I had a 78 real deal. It sounded great. I sold it. Wish I still had it. The headstocks was really the best of any guitar. Stayed in tune fine. Best tone directly plugged in to amp without overdrive.

Oh man I bet it sounded awesome! I know there’s nothing compared to the USA 🇺🇸 made Starcasters. If they ever start a run again on these I’ll probably get one but for now this one will do just fine. Thanks so much for commenting here and checkin this out. 👊🏼🍻

On the left or right of the white out tape? I had to look at video. 😂 I have a bad habit of not cleaning up the surroundings of where I film. The right is a computer mouse. The multi color thing is a remote to a couple of colored leds I have. I’d love to own an actual USA made starcaster. Even a vintage as long as it was in immaculate condition. If Fender ever produces thsss again I’ll probably buy one.

Interesting video on the Starcaster. I have a Fender Modern Player Starcaster version that I bought in 2019. I had a set of Mojotone 72 Clone Wide Range Humbucker Pickups installed in mine with push/push volume and tone controls for coil splitting, reverse polarity and other options. I just wish someone made a well-fitting hard case for it! And no, the Gibson/Epiphone ES-335 case DOES NOT fit well! It's the upper bout/horn that makes it odd so that most cases don't fit.
@TheBeardedItalian
@TheBeardedItalian 7 месяцев назад
I didn’t know Fender had a player version of this. I bet it’s nice and great mods you did on it as well. You won’t ever find a case for it though I’m sure. I’ve ran into the same issue. I’m going with a gig bag though as I’m not a gigging musician so it will be safe enough. According to the specs the Fender FE1225 will fit but we shall see once I get it in. I’ll post another video at that point. Appreciate you commenting here. 🤘🏼👊🏼🍻

@TheBeardedItalian
@TheBeardedItalian 6 месяцев назад
@@wilfridleroy-prost7986 I tried the GW335 and it didn’t fit. I’ve tried a few hard cases either they are too small or too big. I was just on the phone yesterday with Musicians Friend and was going over dimensions of cases. There’s just not one that fits perfect. I ended up with a fender gig bag…not the $59 one but the one that has 25mm padding. It seems to work quite well. I could get a hard case where it is slightly bigger and modify it with extra foam, but Frank is correct in saying that the upper bout/Horn really makes it hard to find a case. You all know back in the day when they first come out in 1976 they had a case, especially made for those by fender.they are very hard to find and very expensive if you do find one.

Are they FWR pickups?
@TheBeardedItalian
@TheBeardedItalian 4 месяца назад
They are wide range hum-buckers yes but not the vintage ‘72 ones. Unless Squier did a heckuva job copy of those. It’s funny that you posted here as I was getting ready to possibly sell this guitar but decided to keep it… Took it to a local guitar shop to see about changing out the pick ups and the technician was confused why I would want to do that. After about a 30 minute conversation, he convinced me that these pick ups are great, and will do anything I need to do, especially since I don’t really play professionally or gig, etc.
@Foul_Quince
@Foul_Quince 4 месяца назад
@@TheBeardedItalian Yeah, I have the Squier '72 Tele Deluxe. it took me a while to get used to the FWR's but when i realised there were two basic modes - "Keith Richards '72" and "Enter Malcolm Young - Mayhem ensues", life became a lot more enjoyable! Try them on high gain, low volume settings.

Damn that’s terrible. I’m not familiar on the different countries that manufactured these. Some vids I’ve seen they have been in production for awhile. @@stevepelham9010 I know what you mean. Fender quality control leaves a bit to be desired. I have a matching American pro II Strat and Tele.
