I unbox and review Fender's Tone Master Pro FR-10. This speaker is designed specifically for use with modelers such as the Fender Tone Master Pro, The Neural DSP Quad Cortex, and many others. Its job is to accurately represent the amplifiers and effects in an onstage setup, but is also suitable for at-home use as well. My review uses a NDSP Quad Cortex.
In this video, I give a review of the cabinet and talk about the sound, as well as demonstrate how it sounds using a Sennheiser e609 microphone. The mic does make the cabinet seem darker than it really is, so keep that in mind!

Best demo I've seen for the Fender TM FRFR 10. Great chops Dustyn you make it sound really good. I wanna give it try with my hx Stomp. Does the cab itself have a XLR out for FOH or DI?

Thanks! Yes it does, I forgot to show the back panel of the cabinet in the video (doh!)

@Dustyn Fink What did you like better this one or the Friedman?

Nice review! What I'm very interested in: would the 10 inch FR-10 be able to make some serious clean noise in the practice room? Does anyone have experience with this?

Tried it yesterday with the QC, yes , was impressed. NB - Fender have resolved the hiss - check the net

I have a new fr12 on order, looks like they have changed up some of the components to fix the hiss, good to hear

Do you feel this is pretty accurate compared to an FOH system? Would you trust this to create your presets or would the FR12 be more accurate? That's my dilemma... Thanks for a great demo!

There will always be lots of variables when making patches that sound good for FOH, But to my ears these FR speakers are very transparent in that they seem to match what I’m hearing on my studio monitors. It’s a toss up for me between the 10 and 12”

Great video! Quick question... having both products, how would you compare the Fender to the Friedman? I've been leaning towards the Friedman, but recently I've been hearing that the Fender is the best FRFR available. Thanks!

Honestly, if I was to buy one, I’d get the fender. It has more for less money

I took the original JOYO anerican pedal and a mini holy grail to GC and teied this speaker. The joyo has the old so called speaker sim and this thing killed. Im 59 yo abd stopped chasing everyone else's tone years ago. But the thing and if you cant afford all the gear go with what you need. The EP boist and any preamp works and pick up a verb or delay pedal cheap and if your into diffrent cabs go that route with a IR pedal live. The point of this speaker is to enhance your choice of style. If your not into all the options, then buy a tone master princetion and go direct. Renember also that most new PA gear like the EV line array and most major gig systems are digital. You can run all your cab gear into the snake and uae the FR cab as a monitor only. Tons of simple options if your gigging

When the output jack is connected will the FR10 speaker be muted ??
@DCFGuitar
@DCFGuitar 7 месяцев назад
No it’s just a thru output. The volume control on the cabinet also does not affect the output jack

@DCFGuitar

You can use either a regular instrument cable (TS) or an XLR

Is it loud enough for a full rock band? I gig with a modeler, but often I have to run it through the power amp of my tube combo for smaller gigs and practice. It’s heavy, and I can’t use my IRs. The headrush frfr I got was just way too quiet, and they’re supposedly 2,000 watts

It’s a pretty loud unit for sure, it obviously will depend on how loud the band is, but I had no issues keeping up with a band (see my video called “I gigged the Fender Tone Master FR-10”)

The new Headrush 108 is about 1/2 the volume of the old model, and sounds fizzier. Total letdown.

Uh...why are you mic'ing the FRFR cab? Which has two speakers in it. The 10" and then the small tweeter driver... It sounds dark because your just mic'ing the 10" speaker and not both...

I was making do with the equipment I had on hand. I discussed this in the video that it was not ideal.

It's an FR cab. Yes the mix of both makes the cabinet an FR piece of gear. The microphone is picking up the majority of any sound anyway. The one thing many misunderstand is that someone's sound, even if he explained the use of limits, is someone's sound. The comment of the lack of use of a mic on a totally separate speaker is not a legitimate reason to even comment. That's like telling him his tone knob is wrong. I use an Amazon 10 inch Bluetooth speaker, with a quilter US block, on stage a lot. It is never questioned by the music police, not anyone in an audience and I play many gigs annually. Yes, the quilter is never used on FR because the cheap powered speaker is not FR. Also remember that you only use FR when you're using a cab sim in a tool. If you owned the cab he's doing the demo on, you would know it's just a powered cab with relevant speakers.
