Fender Vintera II 70's Jaguar Reissue: Playthrough/Demo

Today we're checking out this killer 70's Jaguar Reissue from the new Fender Vintera II series. Fender asked me to be a part of the launch and sent me this Jaguar as well as a 70's Competition Mustang Bass (which makes a quick cameo in this video). The Vintera II sees updates to some classic models as well as some rarely seen reissues. All the models are now sporting rosewood fretboards as opposed to the previous series’ Pao Ferro. They are all made in Mexico and include a deluxe padded gig bag.
I've recorded a track showing off some of the different tones I've been enjoying with it, and we do a quick run through of the pickups isolated on their own.

@@williamjohnbennettiii haha you're doing it well. How do you think this jag compares the the equivalent Jazzmaster. I've always preferred jazzmasters, but the jags look so cool with the block inlays...I'm torn

I honestly tend to prefer Jazzmasters, I think they’re a little more versatile and I prefer the standard scale length. They’ve both got their thing though. I went with this because I already had a nice JM that I love

No? It’s not normally a look I’m big on but I was really struck by how sharp it looked contrasting with the black finish. An updated 60s model would be sweet. The older ones are available at pretty good deals right now though

Heads up. Many of the Vintera 2 offsets are being shipped with a threaded collet in the trem. It should be a pop-in. Fender’s remedy is to exchange guitars. Be very careful that you have the right trem system before purchasing.

I feel that the squier classic vide jagu sounds cooler, more surf like sounds. very hard to decide there are too many.

It’s playing really well as it is right now. But I haven’t taken the neck off to see if it’s shimmed from the factory. May need to investigate next string change

How would you compare it to Johnny Marr?

Just based on memory (it’s been 3-4 years since I had the marr), the neck on the Marr felt a little bit fuller in hand. The bridge is an upgrade. I also prefer the switching/wiring on the Marr The Marr pickups are quite a bit lower output, for my playing I prefer the ones in the Vintera. Playability wise the vintera feels on par, to what I remember of the Marr and to how my 62 AVRI Jazzmaster plays

@@williamjohnbennettiii Odd. I just bought the exact same model and the pop in arm will NOT go in. The collet on my copy is threaded. I’m starting to see reports on Reddit, etc., of arms and trems in the Vintera 2 line not matching. This apparently is happening with the V2 Jazzmasters as well.

Get a Squier CV, set it up properly and put an American trem on it for about 1/3rd the price. Or get a leftover Vintera I for 2/3rds the price.

That's what I paid for my American Vintage '62 Reissue Jaguar, granted that was nearly 20 years ago. It still seems like a lot.
