Fenerbahçe SK is a big sports club from Istanbul, Turkey, founded in 1907. It’s the second most popular football club in Turkey, with 35% of Turkish people supporting them, especially in Istanbul and Ankara. Fenerbahçe has fans not only in Turkey but also in Northern Cyprus, Azerbaijan, South Korea, and among Turkish people living abroad. Some Muslim communities worldwide, as well as minorities in Turkey like Circassians and Kurds, also support them. Their fans are famous for being very passionate and loyal. When they play at their home stadium, Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, a lot of people come to watch, making it one of the most attended stadiums in Turkey.
They have strong rivalries with other clubs, especially with Galatasaray, their neighbors, and Beşiktaş. They often have intense matches known as the Intercontinental derby and the Beşiktaş-Fenerbahçe derby.
Fenerbahçe fans are known for their passionate and unwavering support. Their motto is “Always Support, Full Support” (Hep Destek Tam Destek). In a survey from the 2000s, Fenerbahçe supporters mainly considered Istanbul giants as their rivals, especially Galatasaray. Trabzonspor and Beşiktaş were also disliked, but all three of these teams see Fenerbahçe as their main rival because Fenerbahçe has been a dominant force in Turkish football for many years.
Matches against Beşiktaş are also considered derbies, but the rivalry isn’t as intense as the one between Fenerbahçe SK and Galatasaray SK. These matches are often called the “friendly derby”.
