Few updates already! 1. As shared in the comments by @JustinWillerton and seen posted on social media, the Fenix 8 is now LIVE in Garmin Connect 2. Garmin Connect includes the Solar MIP model. MIP is confirmed! 3. I pointed out the difference in display size for the OLED vs MIP and upon taking a moment to reflect (and see the images in Garmin Connect) the difference is definitely due to the small space needed for the Solar ring ☀ Also if you want to see some more Dave Does Fitness then catch me on Instagram at instagram.com/davedoesfitnessyt/ where I'll post some more behind the scenes content and more general training content
Best reveiw n i instantly subscribed to your channel.....currently using EPIX2 but will upgrade to fenix8...love those thin bezels n more screesize .....looks sleek
Thanks for covering the latest news on this new Fenix! I have an Epix Pro (gen 2) watch and really miss the voice commands... but would I update to the new Fenix just for that feature. We will see.
Yes it seems all high end tech devices are seeing a pretty large leap in pricing this year. Inflation is one thing, but lots of these devices are becoming completely unobtainable for many people. Samsung bumped phone prices, Google keeps creeping up, it will be interesting to see what Apple does next month
Prices are high but look at apple watch price at least Garmin are pushing boundaries with tech and not just recycling old proven tech and telling everyone it's the latest and greatest tech
I just got a Samsung Watch Ultra and I have significant buyers remorse. It's a fine watch but unlike most, I don't like the squircle design in person. I had been waiting, waiting, hoping Garmin would come out with a speaker/mic to take calls and now they have and I'm outside of my return window. Oh well...
I believe @ToolCraze means the software update to strength training making to the older models such as the Epix Pro. Garmin has been great doing this historically so I'd bet it happens sooner than later
Hmmmm - coming from a Fenix 6X Saphire, I really don’t see, why I should burn hundreds of bucks for a watch that in the end would do the same for me. As long as the battery is still OK I‘ll keep my 6X - later maybe the 8 oder any upgraded version of that…
Hi. Thanks for your summarisation. From my point of view I like the new look of Fenix 8. If it is true look I will be happy to upgrade my Instinct 2 solar which is horribly laggy. I hope for the slimmer bezel for Tactix aswell. Tactix is my favourite watches model.
Thank you for all the news. TBH, after 2 years, of using Forerunner 255S music (I am a male with a small wrist, so 47mm or bigger is a no-go to me) I want to switch to Fenix or Epic. I wonder if that Fenix 8 makes sense if we have epix Pro (Gen 2) - Sapphire Edition 42 mm Carbon Gray DLC Titanium. The software is the same, flashlight, AMOLED. As I do not need any features like a microphone, the rest is the same, and Epic is lighter and cheaper.
I wonder if it will allow you to respond to texts on iPhone using voice. I know Apple never let you before so I’m not getting my hopes up. That alone would sell me to upgrade from the tactix amoled.
That would be amazing if it could work that way. If you could connect Fenix -> Siri -> iMessage. I know for sure Apple keeps the iMessage API locked down tight to keep their Apple Watches as the sole direct connection into iMessage. Thanks for watching! 💪🏃
@@DaveDoesFitness I'm wondering will they can it altogether? The main reason to buy it over F7 was always the screen. Now Fenix has it, its hard to see how they differentiate it?
I am a Epix Pro Gen 2 47mm user and when I read the features of Fenix 8, I see NO DİFFERENCE AT ALL! just minor differences. It seems Garmin took Epix pro gen 2 case (exactly same size) and put microphone and add diving feature which Garmin Decent has it. NOTHİNG ELSE . THERE İS NOTHİNG improved technologically. Same sensors same battery, same screen EVEN same body of EPİX GEN 2 PRO. We want Garmin to continue to Epix Gen 3. We want more sensors, or better sensors for especially strenght training and boxing.and better SLEEP TRACKER.
Love this so far… I have a Fenix 7 and am not yet ready for an upgrade. However I’m wondering if the Fenix 8 faces will be available on Garmin Connect and able to apply to my Fenix 7?
Garmin has recently begun to put the watch faces for various models on the Connect IQ store (for sale, not free) so I'd imagine these may find their way there at some point. Thanks for watching! 💪🏃
It's definitely a different look. The 47mm almost looks like a larger S version with the smaller bezels. Definitely a departure from the chonk of the old bezel style. Maybe that gets the weight down though?
That’s usually how tech products are… people say the same about Apple Watches. There’s a cap to how much you can improve year over year. Most new tech is only worth the upgrade if you have a device that’s a couple generations old
@@viccao8431well Apple Watches are so ahead in the smart watch game they don’t really have to do much updates kind like Galaxy Folds in the US, incremental updates because of their lead.
@@viccao8431exactly, the intention is that normal users would buy a new watch every 5 years or so. Then you get a big upgrade. Iterative improvements are important to maintain competitive models.
So what would you have them do - nothing? No new products at all? Or go cray and all Apple Watch mode w cellular? And getting no battery life at all…? Truly - if you were running Garmin, what would you do?
@@der_picard3370I get the desire for MIP but is it really that bad with AMOLED to have to charge it after 18 days? The 47mm gets 18 days battery with the AMOLED display.
Hey Dave! If I had to guess Garmin will put them in the Connect IQ store for sale. Garmin has recently started selling the "exclusive" models' watch faces there
