Battery wise it takes a 16340, you can get 850mah just to extend things a bit. Most lights will say 3 hours, but will usually dim after an hour or so. My little trustfire mc12 is very good, but now sits in my vest as backup. Ever thought about a video on gels and such, got some stealth ones to try that look interesting

Yeap you always have to take the burn time figures with a pinch of salt Darren 👍 I have done a few videos on the channel featuring nutrition. If I'm honest it's pretty hard to keep up with content at the moment. Trying to produce 2 videos a week that are good quality, fun to watch and informative is time consuming, especially when you have a full time job! 🤪 I've already got a list of around 20 videos to produce over the coming weeks so I'll see what I can do. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊

I just ran an ultra with one of those. The truth is you need a headlamp too. Though, it is a very useful piece of kit it has its drawbacks. It lights up the trail very nicely and you can keep your head up, however it is difficult to see whats ahead on your eye level. Therefore I hade to rotate the beam constantly to be able to see the marking. Also every time you bend your body light of course disappears. For steep and technical trail you must have both.
@Run4Adventure
@Run4Adventure 2 года назад
Do you mean headlamp or handlamp? I personally think the HM50R V2.0 is more than enough for most ultras but I always carry a hand held torch as well. The one I've currently got is a 1000 lumens spot light so it's great for finding way markers or sign posts in the distance 👍 Thanks for watching and I hope your Ultra went well 🙏

@@Run4Adventurewhich one is that one kind sir? I originally got this Fenix HM50R headlamp but the battery would die way too quickly here in Chicago’s winter so I exchanged it for a Fenix HM65RT. The Fenix HM65RT has been amazing aside of it being a little bulky and bouncing around when I’m sweating. I just ordered the updated version (HM65DT) but didn’t realize they had gotten rid of the floodlight (the one I use most) and now has two spotlights…. I’m considering going for the NiteCore NU43 instead as it has a mix of spot and flood. I really like the flood light when in the woods at night. Which would you think is the best headlamp for someone like me that does not plan on going more than three hours in the pitch black dark woods? Thank you kind gracious sir

This might be an odd question but how do you activate the turbo? I purchased the HM50R V2.0 and cannot find a way to activate the turbo mode. There are only 3 modes as far as I can tell?

It should be activated just by going through the brightness modes using the side button Fabian? Are you sure you've got the HM50R V2.0 and not the HM50R? They look the same but the original HM50R doesn't have the boost mode. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊

This doesn't strike me primarily as a running light. It's really a utility right angle flashlight that can be turned into a headlamp for working on cars or home maintenance etc and with the red light function for camping or astronomy. It just so happens to be light and versatile enough to be able to go running with it you need to.
@Run4Adventure
@Run4Adventure 2 года назад
The HM50R V2.0 definitely works well as a running headtorch but your right it is multi functional 👍 Not sure what you mean about the red light feature? I mentioned it twice in the review and showed images of me using it? 🤔

hehe glad you read my comments Loyd (I know you do!). I still haven't figured out how to clean the straps on HM65RT or my HL18RT! I wish this one was out when I bought my HL18R back in July as a back up torch. I've ran with on the trails at night a couple of times now and whilst it's light, I haven't been blown away by it. Not sure if it's the light spread or what but I've found it 'ok' and nothing more. One more slightly annoying thing is that the HM65RT charges using USBC and the HL18RT uses micro USB. My fault for not checking that but needing two different cables is just one more thing to remember, especially if travelling. Overall though, I like the brand and will look at their lights first if I ever need another.
@Run4Adventure
@Run4Adventure 2 года назад
I definitely read ever single comment Ian and I also answer all of the comments personally! 😊 It's a shame you're not getting on with your HL18R-T. What is it you're not getting on with? 🤔 I find it really comfortable, nice and light and pretty bright even on the lower settings. I actually use the HL18R-T more than any of my other headtorches for training 🤔 How's the injury going? Hope you're on the mend! Thanks for watching 🙏
@ianl4518
@ianl4518 2 года назад
I'm not really sure Loyd, I might be judging it harshly. I've been out with others and I've found it getting 'drowned out' by the other lights and when I look in a different direction, I've been surprised but its lack of definition. I think what I need to do is use it on my own more and and get used to it. Of course, when you have the HM65RT, everything seems dim! Injury is going ok thanks, making progress and doing heaps of specific strength work on my hip(s). I have engaged a physio that specialises in running and that's been great. Doing about an hour each day of S&C but only running about 40km p/w. Next race is Goodwood marathon in Dec but I may drop to the half or bail altogether. Then hopefully will be fit for ARC50. It's all very frustrating though.
@spamcan9208
@spamcan9208 2 года назад
@@ianl4518 I don't think this light was designed to be primarily used for running but camping, changing a tire on the side of the road, leaky pipe under the sink etc. Fenix makes far better headlamps for running. Using a lens that's designed to spread a diffuse light over a wide area is going to get drowned out like you experienced a lot easier than one designed with more distance focus down a path.
