Try suboxone bro, it is a lesser evil but it got me off heroin and the street 13 yrs ago. My story is similar to yours, adopted and abused, kicked out at 14 and lived on Skid Row in Downtown La. It was the beginning of a long cycle. Now I am 46 been clean for many years and I am a proud Father. You can do this, you are worth it. God bless you my friend. Be safe.

Steve is literally my best friend and pretty much like a brother to me. Everything he's said is the truth, he doesn't bullshit or beat around the bush. Damn homie I feel your pain . I was on fentanyl real bad . Gave my whole life away just for that drug . I became miserable... I'm almost 11 months sober man . There is hope .. I didnt know there was a life possible without alchohol or drugs . I believe in you brother 🙏🙏🙏

This was an incredibly sad story. Very difficult to watch for the pain in his eyes. He was never given a chance. I am praying for him. He has a world of experience and would make a wonderful counselor. God bless him

This one breaks my heart especially when he is describing his childhood was preparation for loneliness..I see a light in him and I pray that he gets sober...he's a handsome man that could achieve great things I pray he gains the strength to fight

Must add that it's obvious that Steve is deeply depressed. I sure hope he can get into a situation where his depression is treated. Freud used cocaine as an antidepressant, for what that is worth.

Watching him, he reminds me so much of my son. I hope he is able to get help and get back to his boys. Wish him all the love, luck, and strength in the world.

I think a lot of people don’t realize that the pain of homelessness and the cold and the physical wear and tear are really why a lot of homeless people use drugs to function. I also use them to do things I didn’t want to do to earn money. It’s like he said it keeps you going...at least for a while. Then, later, you need to drugs to keep going Just to stave off the withdrawls due to addiction, and then there is not a building anymore because all of the money goes to the drugs after that. It’s a vicious cycle.

Steve, please get help. Your children need you badly. Life is so short. You are such a handsome, intelligent young man. There is a lot of people out here who will help you . I’m so sorry you are going threw this depression and addiction. God heals all. Please believe he will help you.

Steve, you CAN do this. You got a raw deal in your young life but -- guess what? - you're still young! Also, you are intelligent, sensitive (part of the problem, I think, with addicts), and not lazy. Get on suboxone/buprenorphine and you won't go through withdrawal. I know it sounds simplistic for people to give advice when we really don't know all you are really going through. Just know, though, that you do have much to live for (your 13-year-old and 6-year-old). You are the type that can recover if you believe your worth --- you've got SO MUCH to offer, Steve. You could even be a drug counselor once you get straight.

I would love to see this guy work out his situation, get off the drugs and have a good life! He truly deserves it and I wish him the best!

This man could help so many people. The emptiness and sadness that surrounds him is heartbreaking. Unfortunately a lot of it steos from childhood trauma. Which is so significantly overlooked when society looks at drug addicts. I pray this guy does stay motivated to change and learns to do so without the use of drugs. It is possible...I am living proof.

I was on meth for a few years, in and out of jail and the last time I got locked up was 2016 and I got my mind right and ive been sober ever since. Ive got the trust of my family and my kids back in my life, me and my boyfriend are getting a house and have good jobs and I owe it all to God! It can be done if you want it bad enough but it takes one day at a time and a lot of prayers to God. Much love!

This is one of the saddest story's I've heard and I've heard a lot.

I understood everything you said brother,, we all have our vices. But im saddened by your chosen path. Im fighting for my life every day with cancer at 34 and see you throwing your life away. But you seem so intelligent and know you want and need help (but not just yet). I was on high doses of prescription fentanyle for 5 years... you can beat this brother, i know you can, i did. Don't let it get ya. Your wishes can come true.

I can’t imagine living life with all hope lost like he seems to be doing. Without anything positive to look forward to or somebody, anybody to guide you there. Tragically lonely. The cycle needs to be broken. Especially considering he has four kids who will be adults out in the world before he knows it. There’s so much he could give them but he just can’t see it. Very sad.

Listening to him is very touching and heartbreaking! He has a kind and genuine soul. The way he gets emotional talking about his kids is saddening! I pray he gets the help he needs and finds his way! I don’t have a any experience with drugs and don’t know anyone who is struggling with drug addiction personally, but from stories I’ve heard and seen I understand it takes a strong mentality and willingness to beat this addiction and having constant support is one of the main substance in getting clean! Something that he’s missing in his life! I hope he finds his support! Maybe thinking about the love that his children have for him can motivate him! I don’t know! I just hope he soon stands on his own two feet and holds his head high and reunites with his kids whom I can see he loves dearly and deeply! All the best wishes to him🙏🏼

Homeless addict here. I'm almost 20. Been doing heroin and meth and crack alot past few years. It's so hard to be ok without help of drugs.

I pray that I get blessed to be in a situation where I can help this man get back on his feet. I can see in him that he has a lot more to offer and that given the chance he will overcome his addiction and be the father and person he knows he can be.

Steve I just want you to know you are loved. Don't pay attention to the people who are mean to you. They arent worth the attention. They apparently have never struggled with addiction. If their own family went through the struggle they would think twice about it. I am an addict myself but I got on Suboxone and it literally saved my life. I hope that you can get yourself clean when you are ready to get out of that black hole. It is definitely no place to be. I wish you all the best. And I care about you. I live in harrowgate/ Kensington. The shame and negativity I see that’s thrown to the addicts and mentally ill is disgusting. We almost got a needle exchange in South Philly but there was too much pushback from the neighborhood. I hope shit gets better for these people.
