I work at Sephora and everyone at my store agrees that using the foundation with the primer makes it way too matte, especially for those who have drier skin. We love using it with Becca's First Light primer (the purple one) and have found that it wears beautifully with it. I would recommend trying the foundation again with a different primer. Also, the Match Stix work so much better if you apply to your hand first to warm them up and then apply. All in all, I agree with your review. I personally love the foundation, and am obsessed with the highlighters and lip gloss! I am excited to see what other products she launches within the next couple of months!

Michaela Glover Do you know if that primer causes breakouts for acne prone skin? I'm also oily so would the Becca primer still work or should I stick with the Fenty primer?

Michaela Glover yea but the girl at sephora told everyone not to hydrate your skin too much cuz it won't mix well,she was so wrong lol I hated the foundation first try it was so dry,next day I moisturized,strobed & made sure my skin was dewy as hell lol used her primer and foundation and my skin was flawless,I've never seen my skin tht perfect with the fenty

This is why we watch reviews..not every beauty line works for everyone. I want an honest review and I think she was honest. She loved some of the products. I personally love the primer, foundation blotting powder and lip gloss and trio stix in deep. I have oily skin and this line works great for me. I did not care for trophy wife at all it just did not work for my skin tone, but that does not make me a hater. I read some of the comments and I don't think some of you were being fair. Tati I thought the makeup looked great on you, but you're the wearing it and you know what works best for you and I appreciate your pros and cons about this makeup.

EXACTLY - everything is not for everyone. I feel these foundations were made for women not usually within the 'mainstream' i.e. slightly more oily ethnic skin.

I would definitely get color matched in sephora if you can! It can get really difficult to pick between shades because the undertone can be the only difference between colors! It doesn't oxidize so much as dry down darker

I work at Sephora and I have dry skin so I just wanted to drop some tips down here for those of you who still wanted to try out the foundation. Use the heaviest moisturizer you have and don't wait for it to soak in before using a primer (I wouldn't recommend the Fenty primer for dry skin) and then the foundation immediately after. Use painting motions or use a beauty blender, buffing can catch dry patches and also create streaks. I've also tried mixing in the Smashbox Primerizer into the foundation and it works pretty well. Hope that helps!

Fraener I'll give that a try. I bought the foundation yesterday at Sephora because I didn't realize I had dry skin. I usually get oily with all foundations and have to blot it during the day. With this in matte but my skin always looks dry in patches. I like the coverage and the staying power, just hate how my skin looks in some patches. I used a beauty blender to apply. I hate to return stuff to sephora...i know they will take it back but I always feel bad doing so.

Agreed, unless there's a chance your face will react to the ingredients and fall off. Not so much that you know your skin because it will crease or slide. Never know may turn out better than thought.

Poor Tati... She can never win. If she loves a product put out by a celeb, people say she's "sucking up". (Ie. KKW contour) she dislikes a product (Fenty primer/foundation), people say she's being a "hater". Everyone will have a different experience with makeup since everyone has different skin tones and skin types. Yeesh!

For those that are surprised as to why Fenty Beauty is not sold out, it's because they backstocked everything for about 2 years. It was announced. Products being 'sold out' are a symbol for success but that depends on how much was in stock in the first place, plus it's irritating to want to try products out but have to wait so long before everything is restocked

Rihanna made a very large range of foundation and will be extending it even more. All the shades have different skin tones to better match to your complexion. There are more fair shades because she also wanted to include people affected by albinism

Haley McDonald and she is definitely got a great range of colors bc there are people that have many ranges as well. It's wonderful to include all races and all conditions of the skin--truly beautiful people. My only complaint is that she is young and probably has normal to oily skin--as opposed to dry skin. I'm older now but even when I was a teenager, I was so dry--I didn't have acne/pimples! I don't have many wrinkles though. I'm religious about my skin care. So, maybe she plans to do that later.

Hey Tati, I just saw your snaps asking what you could've done better in response to all the negative comments. I wanted to say I thought this was a great review! You addressed the pros & cons of so many products the brand launched and I appreciate the input on how the foundation would look with oily vs dry skin. I trust your product reviews more than a lot of other youtubers because you keep it real & I appreciate your check ins throughout the day so much. I'm honestly shocked it didn't dry down about 2 shades darker than when you first applied it. It seems like it did that on just about every other review I've watched. I think the foundation looked great on you, Tati.

My best friend works at Sephora, and she was very irritated when I used the word "oxidize" about this foundation lol. She educated me in the fact that that's definitely not true. I think what happens is-- people swatch the foundation and do not rub it in, which if you rub it in and blend it out, it would show its TRUE final color. I too was scared that I wouldn't be able to find a true color but knowing what my best friend told me, she was able to truly match me and I love the foundation!!! For a limited time, Sephora actually has the "fenty face" going on, basically means you can ask for a complimentary look to be done with all the fenty products, once you find your shade, they use all the products corresponding with the shade you got that fit your tone and all based on a match cheat sheet card they have! This is definitely worth getting done if you want to see how everything applies ☺️ Also don't forget to ask for foundation samples before you commit!

I bought the foundation and i have normal to slightly oily skin. I wore it since 7 10 am, gone to school all day, went to workout with it on, and it is now 8 20 pm and still looks amazing!

Jamie Paige who has dry skin skipped the Fenty primer since its matte too and used her Keihl's face cream and the foundation looked great on her. So maybe with a Hydrating primer you'll like it more? I have super dry skin and I'm waiting for my deluxe sample so I'm kinda scared of it. Fingers crossed!

My skin is EXTREMELY oily and this product is not that matte on me so I feel like if you have dry or normal skin you will feel like it's drying/too matte, it's definitely made for oily skinned people. I wish my foundation stayed as matte as yours on your skin lol i love it by my skin gets dewy again after about 5-6 hours.

For my oily skin, Fenty foundation works great!! It's medium coverage which I like because I'm not a fan of full coverage. Becca Aqua foundation is good too!! For low end I love Loreal Infalliable pro matte foundation!!

On camera, your foundation looks fantastic. This looks like it would be a go-to matte foundation for being on camera all day. I also think "Trophy Wife" will look amazing on the darker skin tones. I think I want to buy some of her line just because it has such a range.

I have combination skin and I had to use a moisturizer and setting spray. So if you are dry you have to exfoliate and hydrate for this to be wearable for sure!

So crazy about some of the comments and maybe I'm ignorant but I thought a review was just that a review, and we could make up our own minds to purchase and try out. I have bought many products based on your reviews some are great (lash paradise) some didn't work for me (tarte shape tape). your are not responsible for my purchasing habits or to give me my opinion. I just like you introducing me to new products. Make up is fun. That's all it is. Love your videos and will keep watching for my next new gotta have item!

Alicia Holmes it's unbelievable what comes out of their mouths (or this case, their keyboards lol). Being triggered by the smallest of things and lashing out because she didn't use the brush/spinge, or she used the primer instead of moisturiser or she made that comment that packaging looks the same (they do). They need to calm down.

I would try this foundation again on freshly moisturized skin. Rihanna recommends loading up on moisturizer so the skin is super plump and hydrated, then using that matte base!

Great review. I need to hear when something creases or blotches because that’s something I would avoid. Also I love hearing how a product would do on oily skin vs dry skin as I’m always a mixture of both. The lip gloss looks amazing and the highlight is so pretty. She actually reviews products after a full day of wear and I really appreciate that. Keep doing great reviews. True make up lovers are grateful!!

I have combo skin and excessively sweat if it is too hot. So this foundation stays put and it is pure heaven. I am so glad I purchased this instead of another foundation I wanted to try.

My skin is a little on the dry side and I love the foundation! I don't use it in conjunction with the primer because the primer is supposed to be mattifying as well. I use it with the Too Faced Hangover RX primer and it works like a charm! 😊 btw, you're beautiful Tati! Love your reviews ❤️

I lovedd this review! I always look out for your HONEST reviews because they will genuinley be bias free and you show us the actual longevity of the products. I have more normal combo skin but very oily t-zone and was still on the fence about the product. I am a recent college grad so I'm basically broke but just got a new job and I think this will be something I can treat my self with. Thanks so much for making such helpful videos!

Your review was spot on! My dry skin did not like this foundation. Even with trying it with multiple hydrating primers. And the multi sticks are so dry. Love the powder highlighter though. Great review as always.

I hate that people are bashing the shade range too. Considering she is a MUSICAL ARTIST by trade, I think she did pretty good for her first stint into beauty. We ALL saw what KKW was like (whomp whomp); beauty is hard! Bare Minerals doesn't have this many shades in their newest Pro line and they are one of the more inclusive beauty lines. I've heard she is also expanding the line at some point; if that's true and there are more shade to come then OMG I CAN'T WAIT. Darker colors are harder to make so I would rather wait for her to get it right then see sloppy work. True most of the colors look super light in the bottle but I think there are more dark shades than people realize.

V MD totally agree, also just cuz a company has a wide range of shades doesn't make them great. If she wants to wait to expand then good for her, don't just throw out sloppy stuff to satisfy people. And from what I've dealt with being a person of color it isn't necessarily finding a dark enough shade, it's finding the right undertones, I struggle finding foundation that doesn't come off pink lol. Regardless kudos to Rihanna

And she also includes shades for people of Asian and middle eastern descant, which has very different undertones and a lot of people are just looking at it as black and white which is upsetting. She included all ethnicities and that is more impressive then any new brand I have seen.

As an oily skin girl I'm very excited about this foundation. TBH I do feel this foundation is more for oily skin girls because of how this matte formula is. I heard Rihanna say her goal for this foundation was to make a foundation similar to the Giorgio Armani Luminous silk foundation (your skin but better look) but more wearable for oily skin people. I'm in shade 230 and I'm loving the foundation. It give my skin a FLAWLESS appearance and a my skin but better yet it holds up with my oils. Yay!

I have dry skin. I used the Dr. Jart water drop moisturizer and the Smashbox primer before the Fenty foundation and had great success. I was determined to make it work since I am so hard to color match but I had a match with this foundation. By God I was going to make it work 😆

I have dry skin as well and also moisturized beforehand and then used the Smashbox primer before the Fenty foundation and my skin was flawless all night. I was way too excited to finally find my shade. We just need a little extra help as dry skin girls, but this foundation can definitely work! :)

To be honest, this is one of the prettiest foundations I've ever seen Tati wear, and I've been watching her channel daily for years. I hope she gives it a second chance because her skin looked truly incredible in this video. Kinda sad we didn't get any ultra close up shots like she usually does, to see in detail how it wore on trouble spots. I tried the Fenty foundation today, too, and at first I kinda of disliked it, but then I caught a random glimpse in a mirror about 30 minutes after I applied it and it literally stopped me in my tracks it looked so good...my face looked flawless and it is FAR from it. I took the brand's advice and put on a ton of moisturizer and used a very moisturizing primer, then finished with a glowy setting spray (Too Cool For School's Perfect Day plus a spritz of Glamglow GlowSetter), so maybe that's why it looked so good on my normal-to-dry skin.
