For those hollering animal abuse and jail the owner… you need to understand that this was a 4-H project, then the owner left for college. The parents probably had no experience with sheep, but recently learned that she should have been sheared. They then turned her over to a farm sanctuary. The sanctuary then scheduled the shearing and will provide her with appropriate care for the rest of her life. Also she as in beautiful condition once they got the wool off; so the parents, though inexperienced with sheep needing shearing were otherwise providing appropriate care.
@sallyintucson back then I showed heifers (FFA) and it was a common practice for a company/person to buy the animal but not take possession of the animal claiming it as a donation. The animal was either intentionally left with the person who showed the animal or they just forgot about it. The animal just kind of became part of the farm. Parents didn't always know how to take of it. ALL OF THAT BEING SAID... I find it hard to believe that a farm kid went off to college and never came back. When I was in college, I was home at the very least one weekend a month. If it was harvest, sometimes a few days a week. So I would still blame the kid who showed it. They could have arranged for a shearing at any time. Abandoning an animal to someone else by default isn't an excuse. If they were going to keep it they are still responsible for the animals welfare. You wouldn't just go on vacation without making sure all was taken care of.
Watching you shearing sheep somehow feels good for my heart and soul. You are so gentle with them, so loving and careful. Thank you for doing this and your videos❤
As a regular volunteer at Winding Branch, thank you so much for coming out of your way to help our sweet Fergie! She feels and looks so much better! ❤️
I love how relaxed Fergie was, she knew she was getting the best help from Katie! Thank you so much for taking such care with this lovely little lady. Much hope she can enjoy the rest of her days being well-shorn in the Texas heat!
I love how she sorta laid back on the blanket when you couldn’t roll her like “feels good to have it off but it sure is soft to lay on!” Sweet girl took all your good energy and rolled with the punches ❤
When Fergie gives you a smile like that with the first pass of the shears, you know you're in for a great, professional, and enjoyable shearing experience. With a professional setup against a rustic background, it makes this team the best in the west 🤠✂️🐏🇿🇦
Katie is so kind to the animals she grooms. You can tell she loves animals. Anyone who treats the sheep like this has a heart of gold and the soul of an angel.
She was so patient as she was being shorn, so lovely and elegant despite being terribly uncomfortable. I hope her nicks heal quickly and that she can enjoy the fresh breeze on her skin!!!
Sheep's lanoline is a natural antiseptic and emollient and it will protect those little nicks and prevent infection. Fergie is a sweet girl and was in the hands of a caring professional. Blessings to both sheep and shearer! 🥰
I couldn't even begin to imagine how amazing that would feel being her , I agree a couple tiny nicks would be nothing to get all that removed. Youre awesome & Id put money on it that they would all agree ❤❤
Haha I'm peri-menopausal, 44 and wee bit overweight so I get hot ALOT. But regardless of all that I've always heated up to 5000 degrees furnace level when I sleep. So I understand HOT. I find these videos so satisfying knowing they are getting relief.
You are firm, but gentle with these animals. They always look so much happier when you're done. Thanks for what you do & thanks for sharing it with us.
❤ I have watched both videos, with and without voice over. I liked both but hearing you talk so sweetly to help keep her calm was epic. Great job! I love this channel
Fergie has such a sweet face, and a calm demeanor... she obviously trusted that you were going to make her feel much better. I can't imagine carrying that around for 4 Texas summers!! 😮
I find watching you sheer the sheep so relaxing. And to see the fleece roll out in a sheet is unbelievable for someone who never was near sheep. Great job, great video.
I watch these sometimes and it's always amazing to me when the face gets shaved. Like the sheep will get poked in the eye, but it never happens. Pretty cool
I had tears in my eyes. This was so sad to see her in the shape she was in. God bless you and your wife both for doing what you do for these animals. You two are truly Angels
I am not religious but I kept thinking “god bless you, god bless you” the entire time you were shearing. She must feel soooo much better. Thank you! ❤❤❤
😮 good job you need to put more videos I like watching you especially those animals need a haircut and after you finish they look beautiful and relieved I'm your fan Juan
At certain angles, it looked like that animal was smiling at you for the sheering and the wool that was on her. I know she thinks you are an angel to make her feel better!😇😇😇😇🪽🪽🪽🪽😊😊😊😊
You know these animals are so thankful once the wool is gone! It doesn’t matter how how they got like that.. what matters is there are people like Katie in the world doing the best job they can for animals like this!
Wat een wol Best een kunst om z’n beest te scheren Geen gezicht z’n bloot schaap Knap zo dat gaat een heel karwei Hy is bek af en het schaap opgelucht 👍💋🇾🇪❤
From down here in New Zealand...it's absolutely awesome watching you knock that jacket off...i'd be proud and honoured to shear alongside you anytime girl
That’s why my daughter raised meat breeds…no long term care. Make ‘em pretty for the competition then put them in the 4H auction! Her first lamb/sheep was “Lamb Chop”.
It has become evident to me that Katie's tattoos are created for the entertainment of the animals. It gives them something interesting to look at while being shorn.
If 4 H is gonna be our excuse then they need to train the kids better. They should know the care of the animal is top priority after competition is over. Senseless
I think what happens is the 4H-er goes off to college and the 'pet' is left in the care of their family at home. And they may not be fully aware or focused on all the needs of the pet. Life gets busy.
I just noticed your arms in this video after watching a whole bunch of your content and I must say: #armgoals! haha the strength of those muscles working to make it look easy to handle this sheep is amazing. Anyway I am so happy to have found this channel. Keep up the good work!
Yes, that those people think its animal abuse, is garbage! These animals are miserable with this much wool on them! I am thankful that this young man is helping sheer her, she will feel 100%better! Thank you!!
So gentle, people complaining are ignorant. Learn about the process and why shearing is so important for the health of these animals. Stop being overly critical, study why you shouldn’t vote for Dump, do something useful with your time!
