They were events that caused untold torment for the friends and families connected with Manchester United and Liverpool. The 1958 Munich Air Disaster and the Hillsborough tragedy of 1989 hold a dark place in the histories of both clubs. Despite their poignancy, unsavoury chants relating to the disasters have persisted between rival supporters. But in light of a fresh inquiry clearing Liverpool fans of any blame for the tragedy that took the lives of 96 of their supporters, United manager Alex Ferguson hopes that the vocal minorities can now be silenced.

United received abuse since 1958 from Liverpool fans for the Munich disaster, however it isn’t right to retaliate and verbally abuse the victims of Hillsborough ,it’s sick!both club supporters are at fault and I’m a united fan

There is no place in football for hateful chants on the terraces from rival supporters, I agree with Alex Ferguson it has to stop.
