I had ringworm when I was 15 and the prescription they put me on had me 10 for 11 in 3 games on pony with 8 homers after starting the year 0 for 15. Good stuff!!

FT's never going to live down the claim of 'ringworm medication,' in any case. That's going to be joked about and, worse, mocked for decades. A guy with $341m headed his way was negligent over something he can easily discover by talking to the team doc? That's extremely hard to believe. Extremely.

As a Padres fan, I’ll admit, I’ve noticed signs of immaturity from Tatis the past couple of years: The way he handles himself in interviews, the things he says, the body language after a strikeout, etc... I looked past all that, chalked it up to him being young and dumb. Thought he’d grow out of it, no biggie. But then the motorcycle crash, and now the steroids... I don’t buy the ringworm excuse either, that’s what makes it so bad for me, the not taking responsibility for your actions. He’s still a great player, he can still be loved in SD, but he needs to take this time to lay low, do some soul searching, grow up and become a professional baseball player.

Hey Trevor I’m a youth baseball coach in San Diego. My whole team loves tatis more than anything. I coach 7&8u. Having to tell my son today that tatis is done for the year was really tough. Like navigating how to explain steroids wasn’t fun.

As a father I felt what Trevor said I had to tell my son that his favorite player got suspended for 80 games and he was crushed he literally said to me dad he was supposed to be back next week who am I gonna watch now😭😭😭😭

Ringworm is (according to them) highly contagious and anywhere an infected pet sits, sleeps, walks, etc, is a potential transmission point. You know what else they discovered: the chemical in discussion here is NOT a treatment for ringworm, nor is part of any treatment for ringworm...again, according to their broadcast.

Everybody blamed the Cardinals for not sigining FT when he was a rookie, even though he and his father wanted to play for the Cards. Perhaps his father hoped the Cards Org would set him straight. The Padres swooped in, rushed him into the Bigs, and only had 3-5 years of production. Now he signed a Max contract and continues to screw up. The Padres continue with this "win now" strategy with Juan Soto and bet the Farm. Meanwhile, the Cards stay patient with Dylan Carson, Nolan Gorman, and a plethora of OF propects. Not to mention, they traded for Paul Goldschmit and Nolan Arrenado. Its better to be patient, stay humble and continue to perfect your craft.

Ringworm is fairly common in jiu jitsu. It's a skin to skin contact condition and some people are just waaaaaay more susceptible to it than others. Idk why... I have personally treated plenty of ring worm before and bro.... you don't take clostebol for it... lol!

For anybody that believes the ringworm story, I have a bridge to sell you.

As a Padres/Steelers fan, I see this as a young Big Ben situation. Both get into motorcycle accidents early in their career and both make mistakes to keep them away from the team and tarnish their rep. It’ll take a few years or winning to clear this up. Like it did Big Ben.

Good point on young stardom and it not being perceived as hanging on /reclaiming youth. That in and of itself provides some level of cover & pseudo justifiability. This is has the feel of Canelo popping for clenbuterol around the GGG fight. It’s a tainted legacy that has and likely will cast doubt on the rest of his legacy and what he plans to do. It’ll be interesting to see how Tatis returns and the form he’s in.

80 games is no joke. The only players with longer non-lifetime suspensions are Alex Rodriguez, Jenrry Mejia (eventually banned), Marlon Byrd, Francis Martes, and Robinson Cano all received 162-game penalties, and 100+ game suspensions were levied against Miguel Tejada, Manny Ramirez, and Guillermo Mota. For domestic violence, Domingo Germán: 81 games (January 2020)

Even as a Dodgers fan I’ve always had a lot of respect for this guy, but I think that’s gone now. He’s a tremendous talent and amazing to watch but there’s just no excuse for this kind of stuff nowadays. Forget the moral quandary, it’s just dumb to think you’ll get away with it.

This happening to Tatis is a bigger deal than anyone who has got popped before him…I do hitting and pitching lessons at a a facility in a part of California that is not in San Diego…kids I work with are 7-13 years old and each and everyone of them has Fernando Tatis Jr. in their top 3 favorite players…damn it…anybody but him man…he was bringing baseball back for the younger generation

To my understanding (I’m a PA student).. yes you can take it to treat dermatologic conditions such as tinea corporis (ring worm) but that’s a topical medication, kinda like the 1% hydrocortisone over the counter medication you can get for bug bites. To test positive for Clostebol it needs to be circulating in your system, so injected or by mouth, which you wouldn’t take for dermatologic affect. Doesn’t really add up, but even if we were to give the benefit of the doubt.. it still doesn’t make sense as to why someone would take something other than just a topical anti fungal for ring worm. Ringworm is super common and relatively easy to treat with over the counter medications. It just doesn’t make sense from a medical standpoint

It’s crazy, especially when we are starting to see all of these Tatis commercials coming out.

He dropped the appeal because of how long the medication is used to actually treat ringworm versus how long he has been taking it didn't align in any way. It was unfortunately intentional, and the PR departments of the team and MLB will have a lot of work ahead of them to try to clean his name.

This is the exact same reason I give for why guys like Bonds, Clemens, etc. shouldn't be in the Hall. Every Hall of Fame speech I've seen has mentioned the guy playing the game the right way and how much respect they have for the game and their fellow competitors. If you willing to cheat to get ahead in the sport then that's on you but you need to accept the consequences that come with that. Like everyone else is saying, we will never know what the real story is or anything but Tatis and other guys that have been caught or linked to it are permanently tainted by it, it it just something that will follow them because there is always that well what if they are cheating thought. Also guys need to stop using the excuse of they accidentally took something they shouldn't have, because like Trevor said everything you could need medical wise can be done through the team so situations like this don't happen.

First, it isn't over the counter. Everyone, and especially performance athletes should always double check what they're taking. Ringworm comes from the ground, commonly through cats to human. Pressure is on him when he returns from the suspension.
